You are not alone Mike. I've gone through several military bags as camera bags to use for re-enactment or daily carry.

My favorite are the French machine gun magazine bags.

Same here...I have many! Way too many!

Though, I will say in my defense (for my own justification) that I often use the same bags for photography, travel, fishing, daily use.

Five bags sounds more like a bad habit than an addiction, although if you have matching shoes, it may be more serious.

Three backpacks and three shoulder bags. I am done looking for the perfect bag. I have decided that it does not exist. I am picking which one to use based on the equipment I am using at any one time.

A variety of bags for a variety of camera outfits seems pretty reasonable to me.

"French Ammo Bag" yields a number of hits already. Be sure to compare prices as I've picked up all 4 of mine for around $15.

These were normally used to carry magazines for the FN-24/29 light machine gun.

I've added a layer of foam padding to the bottom of the bags

I'm clean and sober on this one. I've never owned a camera bag, never saw the need for one, and never will. Why would I want to dig around in a bag for the camera while the shot disappears? I put one lens on the camera and that's what I shoot with, and nothing else needs to come with me besides my usual side bag w/ my journal, phone, sketch pad, money, keys, pens and pencils, etc.

I have four.
Mike, since you can say how many you have you are ok.
Those who guess "Ah, maybe 12....err wait, more like fifte...actually around 20. I think" may have a problem.

btw way, I recently got a Retrospective 7 V.2 , their next to the smallest of this msgr type bag.

https://www.thinktankphoto.com/colle...pective-series.

It holds two Pro2s and two Fuji lenses plus ancillary items. Very happy with it.

I don't dare to count them
I am nearing 20
Many Tamrac, Kata, a Chinese leather bag (which I modified) and many Caselogic. Even some terrible Amazon basic.
Since I have too many cameras, lenses and accessories, I often waste hours to look for certain piece of gear, having forgotten in which closet or drawer I had put it.
So I decided to systematically go one bag one photo kit.
And I am periodically buying new Caselogic cases to accommodate each kit.
I will put a tiny label on it with a single letter (e.g. N for Nikon) so that I will not need to open n cases to find the right one.
Why Caselogic?
Because they are well made and very cheap
They look humble and I don't think people may guess there is gear inside that is so precious for me and, in certain cases, rather expensive too.

Hi Rick,

Can you share the website where such bags sell?
Thanks.

The epicenter started in Canada and I call it "Joe Disease." Joe is a Moderator on this forum.

Seemed to somehow cross the Atlantic.

There is a strain of "Joe Disease" that took hold in me. Seems like I'm likely the only person in RFF that uses a Louie Vutton leather bookbag as a camera bag.

I am not sure how many bags I have, I sometimes remember ones that are not in use or came with a camera and just are not worth selling on. Then there are the load of messanger bags I seem to have picked up on the way. Some of the bigger bags that OK for big DSLR cameras are used for lights ans other studio stuff. At a rough guess more than 30 at least 15 cam bags. Hell we repurposed a smaller Lowepro as a nappy bag . Its not an issue I bought them all with spare cash.
