As a professional repairer, my only real advice is to buy the best quality microfibre cloth you can afford and keep it in a ziplock bag. NEVER drop it on the floor or put it down on your workbench....

I find the Kiev and my Contax II a pleasure to use. OK, The viewfinder is poor but the rangefinder is very accurate. I love the Jupiter 8 and the Zeiss Sonnar.

OK here are a couple of shots. Ilford delta 400, Rodinal 1:25 for 7 minutes. Exposures were guessed.
These are both cropped. the second photo is a tighter crop, hence the grain.

The shutter was problematic on mine but a stripdown and clean in isopropanol got rid of the old lubricant...

The picket fence shot shows the texture of the wood and you can almost reach out and touch it....

The Jupiter 9, 85mm F2 is a wonderful lens based on the pre-war Zeiss Sonnar. A marvellous piece of glass IMHO.
Thet are avilable in L39 and Contax Kiev fitting, plus M42 of course.
