I am trying to decide whether to get a 2.8C with one tiny scratch (1-2mm) on taking lens and partially working film counter OR to go for an Automat 1937/38 (could be model K4B2 w/ Schneider lens)....

That's a good advise. It was exactly what I did when I got my GL after being told that the shutter was bad. You just cannot see it, it's too fast to look front the front on the lens.
