What films do you use?

I use XP2,
Acros 100,
Kodak 400 C41,

Update
Color, I use Fuji 200, and more and more Fujichrome Sensia 100

Just curious...

dof 04-02-2010 18:46

I use Tri-X, Plus-X, Pan-F and Portra 400 VC. I miss AgfaPan 25.

ErnestoJL 04-02-2010 18:55

Ilford HP5, KOdak T400, Ilford Panf F, any C41 colour neg. pref. ISO 400, and any other B&W film I can get (even 1960 made Plus X stored in the Antarctica at -15 C for over 30 years).

Ernesto

Juan Valdenebro 04-02-2010 18:57

Tri-X, APX100 and lately TMax films.

Poll is ready... Multiple OK
Dang... forgot Fuji Acros 100

gb hill 04-02-2010 19:14

the ones I checked plus ones not in the poll like Arista EDU 100-400, Arista premium 400 which is Tri-X 400 which I also shoot. I also use quite a bit of Plus X 125. I also have a few rolls of the old T-Max 400 film I'm shooting.

Juan Valdenebro 04-02-2010 19:21

The most used film is not in the poll...

KarlG 04-02-2010 19:29

I use Tri-x for B&W, Portra 160/400NC & Ektar for C-41 and Provia & Astia for slide.

Cool poll...

Which one?
I am not familiar with all the films..I used BH's Catalog to make my 12 picks that I thought may be readily available to most...in the USA anyway.. Don't know the popular brands in other places.

Tri-X, the world's most popular BW film

holdtheframe 04-02-2010 21:54

I love Neopan 400.

Almost put it in too...Thought TMax films may be more popular... What Do I know. I used Plux-x when I souped my film in the 70's :bang: Thanks

tj01 04-02-2010 22:15

Where's 400TX ?

Gregoryniss 04-02-2010 22:18

neopan acros and neopan 400, and neopan 400 @ 1600

Kristopher 04-02-2010 22:30

where is tri-x?
where is plus-x?

Phil_F_NM 04-02-2010 22:34

There's no Plus-X choice!

Roberto V. 04-03-2010 00:22

From the ones listed, I use T-MAX 400 and BW400CN, but I also use Tri-X and Plus-X, and I intend to start using adox CHS 100

totifoto 04-03-2010 01:39

For 35mm I use Tri-x 400 and for 120 I use Tmax-400

elude 04-03-2010 01:54

None of the above.

Harry Lime 04-03-2010 02:08

You forgot Tri-X 400.

I shoot Tri-X 400 and TMY-2 400, with a sprinkling of Delta3200.

sniki 04-03-2010 02:10

I mostly use Txi-x 400 and Efke Ort-25 (orthochromatic).

Roger Vadim 04-03-2010 02:11

Foma 100 (120 & 4x45)
my remains of the dreary Classic 400 (4x5)
HP 5 (4x5)
T-Max 400 (135 & 120)
Acros (135 & 120)
APX 100 (135)

In 135 mostly APX, followed by the creamy TMX-2

The Foma is a tricky old-school film with quite a bit of contrast, but once tamed quite nice. use it for 4x5 because there is no APX there...

I loved Tri-x 320 in 120 for my hot light studio work, but it's gone. so I need to find an alternative: any ideas? (The spectral sensitivity was special)

shimokita 04-03-2010 06:25

Fujifilm Neopan 100 ACROS

Casey

SteveM 04-03-2010 08:01

Tri-X
HP5
Delta 100
Delta 400

All in 120 and 135 formats.

Steve

BTMarcais 04-03-2010 08:55

Well, I actually don't use Tri-X all that much, I'm more an Hp5 kinda guy, although I do use Tri-X at 800/1600- i find it pushes better than Hp5.
But one of my favorites is not on the list: Fuji Neopan 1600.
I'll shoot whatever I have, but my most used would be:

Hp5
Neopan 1600
Fp4

. . . and the Neopan 400CN missed on OP's list.

I shoot mostly HP5+, with PanF+ and FP4+. I've been using the Rollei 25 Ortho and ATP1.1 a bit lately, and have just ordered some of the Rollei 25 Pan. I've been running the 25 films in very dilute Rodinal and getting much better results than with anything else.

Steve Bellayr 04-03-2010 13:39

Also fuji neopan 1600 when 400 is just not fast enough.

FallisPhoto 04-03-2010 14:07

Currently, I have Blue Fire, Efke 25, T-Max 400 and T-Max 100. Two of those are not on the list.

Ohps... and forget-me-not Fuji Neopan 1600!

jmkelly 04-03-2010 15:18

I shoot stuff that is not in the poll: For C41 color I shoot mostly Kodak HD4 and some Ektar; I just got a small brick of Agfa Vista 400 to see what it's like - expecting lots of grain and old-school lack of saturation - might be interesting. I shoot more B/W and develop it myself. A year ago I would have answered HP5+, Delta 400 and Efke 100 but prefer less expensive stock lately: Arista Legacy Pro 400 (Fuji Neopan?) and EDU Ultra 400 (Fomapan?); also shooting Lucky 100 in 120 format.

charjohncarter 04-03-2010 18:36

But I equally, along with Tmax 100 & 400, use TriX.

MPerson 04-04-2010 03:02

Double-X, Tri-X, Plus-X.

JPSuisse 04-04-2010 03:23

I think this pole needs to be redone to be meaningful. My most used films are Plus-X and Neopan 1600. Runner up is Tri-X. None of them are in the pole!

JP

ps: Plus-X has really great tonality souped in DD-X!

Only 12 options are available... I had to pick which ones to include. Maybe do one for each major brand:

Kodak Only
Fuji Only
Illford Only

Others Only (Efka, Foma, Kentmere, Rollie, And others)

ElectroWNED 04-08-2010 07:45

HP5 and XP2... I pile up HP5 until I find somewhere to develop it, and take XP2 to dept. store for developing...

Jack Lopes 04-08-2010 08:47

Polaroid SX70, Keep on rollin´ !!!

40oz 04-08-2010 09:23

There is a lot of film on the market, 12 options aren't near enough :)

Personally, I use Tri-X, TMax 400, TMax 100, Plus-X, and Pan F. I like HP5 but haven't bought it for a few years.

David R Munson 04-10-2010 20:37

Mostly I shoot Tri-X. Been using it forever, and I know it inside and out. If I could get Tri-X Pan 320 in 35mm I'd shoot that a lot more, though.

R.MacDonald 04-18-2010 19:35

On the list i've shot fp4 (4X5 only), hp5, t-max films. I usually shoot tri-x. I like neopan 400 as well, but when that runs out i'll stick with tri-x, as the price difference isn't what it used to be. I bought a few rolls of plus-x a few weeks ago. I haven't shot it and years and wanted to try a slower film for a change.
