[email protected]: that green balcony and red trail from car light is delicious

greyelm: the color of water and the blue feathers of birds, very nice. you could up the saturation a bit.

SimonSawSunlight: your first picture smell like street! don't let subjects pose for you.

kshapero: beautiful image, warm and tender.

andredossantos: very edgy and atmospheric. you got inhale and exhale in the same shot. you photograph people in subway, when they smoke... you're a hungry photographer. i like you already!

it does show.

but if you have photoshop, up the saturation in the original image by 20% and up the vibrance by 50%.

Thanks Yolk, will try that next time. Can I use the same when I have the picture saved on my computer? Just point at the file in my folder?

Thanks for your comments about the motorbike picture. It took me some while to get it right, especially guessing when the camera would trip the shutter with the self timer. A cable release was too much hassle.

Ok, don't ostracise me - this isn't a straight photograph any more. This is part of a series I have been working on about neurophysiological aspects of human vision. Our brains use a function called 'edge detection' to identify shapes and forms, and it has some dirty tricks to enhance our vision for extremely fast events or in extremely dark environments. The equivalent to 'unsharp masking' is known to nature too...

The next one is a real, straight photograph. I promise:

^ you set the camera on a tripod/shelf, set the exposure and then set the timer. you pressed the shutter, quickly run to the kitchen and came through that door which is behind you in the last moment?

Its a brilliant and hilarious shot, the hats are the real attraction.

pretty much what you guessed first. tripod. long exposure. didn't use the door. just walked (carefully, so as not to knock it down -- I'm a klutz) past the tripod. there's a bit of ghost image on the chest of drawers that I suspect was our cat deciding, as cats do, to not cooperate with my plan.

Most of these are with the LX3. Image stabilisation makes it much easier to do motion blur hand held...

pretty much what you guessed first. tripod. long exposure. didn't use the door. just walked (carefully, so as not to knock it down -- I'm a klutz) past the tripod. there's a bit of ghost image on the chest of drawers that I suspect was our cat deciding, as cats do, to not cooperate with my plan.

i'm curious as to how the color version of this photo would look like. i have a feeling it would be even more quirky and interesting.

lynnb, great pictures, especially the fish. looks like impressionistic art.

semilog, the picture of the man looks as if his suspended in time. very existential. :-)
