I have noted that Roger has suggested a Praktina as being of Rangefinder style .
It was my Dad's 1957 Praktina FX which so fascinated me , but why do I find myself wanting one to complement my Conataxes - especially the Contax / Kiev IV ' hybrid which echoes the Praktina profile with waist level finder .
Maybe it's just those vintage lenses and the slides from the Pancolour which are just so familiar .

I would welcome any observations on the Praktina .

Thanks .

Interesting design, but not particularly reliable. Tough to find good working East German cameras of that era.

I've had a fascination/love affair with Exaktas for over 30 years, and it's very tough to find a good working example of those. Exaktas are said to be the 'best' of the East German cameras - don't know if that's because they weren't part of the VEB Pentacon empire during their heyday of the 1950's. Of course, I could be debated on that point!
