Hi everyone,

first of all I am totally new to this forum and actually also to range finders.
I recently decided to collect cameras and also use most of them.
I actually am a student for film but before I went doing this I studied photography and film together.
Now I saw someone selling olympus rc on the net, this person is asking 50 euro's for 3 olympus 35 rc's.

One of them, lost the shutter weel
two of them are in pretty good shape

the seller didn't test the lightmeter..
so on all three of them I aint sure wether the meter is functioning or not

so Is 50 euro's for the three cameras a fair/good price?

thanks ahead:angel:

What you need to ask yourself is whether you can make repairs. If not, I would skip it. If you think you can take three cameras and turn them into one or maybe two, then it's worth it.

the thing is I want to learn all that..( repairing and stuff )
and besides he says the cameras are mechanically in order.
its only the meter he doesn't know...

Go for it. Propably the cameras are just in the need of fresh batteries. In any case the RC is a nice shooter and you can use it in manual mode even if the meter wouldn't function. Get some cheap 1.35V hearing aid batteries and fix a #9 rubber O-ring around it for a spacer.

Welcome Xpresson,

Like Mablo says you can use it in manual, but you can also use it without a battery in manual mode. Therefore if the meter's not working, and it's mechanically sound, it should still be perfectly useable.

For some brilliant tech notes try this link:

And for operational instructions:

There are various sites with manuals if you need them, just Google.

If you are still feeling brave about those RC's, fear not for I have information on tearing down the RC;

Everyone should look at this to see what you get with a CLA.

50 euros for three RC:s is a bargain deal. I paid 35 Euros for mine, albeit in fine shape with working meter. Probably all three of them don't have inoperative meters. You would have two cameras for spares. In a way a 35RC without a working meter kind of takes some of the charm away since you may feel that you need to carry around a meter with you.

Amazing...that's why I could never do a real repair on an old camera. There is 100% probability that I would lose or break something.

I was never very good at building models, either.

That's a great set of pics by Russ Pinchbeck on RC overhaul, thanks Russ. I would just add that I believe the twin pin nut for the timer lever has a LEFT HAND THREAD. I nearly damaged mine before working this out. Cheers
