View Full Version : Frances in hospital

I shan't be around much for a while on the forum. Last night Frances's bronchitis and cough got REALLY bad and we called the doctor. After an over-the-phone diagnosis they sent an ambulance and took her to Loudun hospital, about 11 miles away, as an emergency: blue flashing lights, the whole bit.

Aditi and I followed in the Land Rover. We didn't get home and to bed until 0300 this morning. Then they started digging up the road outside my house at 0800 this morning, with pneumatic drills.

They say that Frances will probably be in for 5-7 days (happy Easter!). It's not life-threatening but it's not much fun either. Visiting is 13:00 to 20:00 so I'm going to be in Loudun a lot.

Tashi delek,

Roger

A hint, Roger, which will make your visiting more pleasant. They get very uppity if you transfer her vin rouge drip to yourself!

Seriously, bronchitis is grim. You both have my best wishes for a speedy recovery and return home.

Sorry to hear about this, Roger. Frances will be in my prayers. My mother-in-law just had a stroke last week, so things are quite a bit different around here right now.

Keep the reason for Easter in your heart, and stay by her side. God bless you both.

Roger,

Bronchitis is a tough one, seems only time and / or a warm climate helps, am very glad to hear she is getting close medical attention, my sincere hopes that both of you are the most comfortable and as quickly as possible on the mend. Forget the vin rouge, go for he d'Yquem, it will soothe, ;-)

Regards, John

Thanks everyone. Your kind thoughts brought tears to my eyes and will to hers to when she reads them all in a few days' time.

Aditi and I have just come back from seeing her. She's looking very much better but she's still on oxygen and drips and cheerful stuff like that. The Easter dinner (cotes de veau) goes in the freezer until she's out of hospital!

It has been much easier with the help of our wonderful 'adopted daughter' Aditi -- who as I write this is on the telephone to her father (one of my oldest friends) being her incredibly sweet self with him too.

Tashi delek,

Roger

Hi Roger,
First, best wishes from our household to Frances & you. Our sympathies as current flu sufferers, we are in that final period where it seems like it is trying to return. It has been a very unpleasant 2+ weeks.
I was going to reply to your "Who cares?" thread to say that my wife, Sharon, went through something that sounded like Frances' pseudo...., Sharon's was named Polymyalgia rheumatica (a self limiting syndrome) from 1990 to 1994, when we lived in Marin and it changed into something else and seemed to go away when we retired to the heat of San Antonio in 1998.
So, take care, we care.
