Roger,

I was wondering if you could help me out as I trust your opinions regarding lenses and such. I am looking at purchasing a CV nokton 35/1.4 MC and was wondering if you could tell me how it performs relative to a 35mm summicron V. III. I really like my summicron but there are many times I could use the extra stop as I photograph is some pretty low light often. Non of the camera dealers where I live carry Voigtlander cameras or lenes, so I cannot try it out myself. I am non interested in MTFs or any of that non-sense. Thanks for your advice in advance.

JRG,

Thanks for the links to other threads. I guess I should have stated that I have used Google, RFF and other searches but didn't find any posts that helped. Thanks again.

I love my sample of this lens. High contrast and punchy colours. Seems to be a good match for Provia 100F. Here's a few recent shots taken in Chinatown, Yokohama.

I've never used a 35mm summicron V. III so cannot compare, but find the Nokton to be very good wide open, good contrast and sharpness. The only minus is that there is some barrel distortion. But that's not a problem if you don't shoot architecture.

Dear Richard,

Sorry for the delay; I didn't see the thread (I don't always check my own sub-forum).

The others have answered better than I could anyway, as it is one of the few Voigtländer lenses I haven't tried. Sorry I can't be more help.

Cheers,

Roger
