Hello,
Here are a few night shots:

http://homepage.mac.com/mac.hive/PhotoAlbum9.html

I turned on long exposure noise reduction. I found only one hot pixel in the resulting images. I'm impressed. All of these were shot RAW.

These shots were taken with the Ultron 35mm, 1.7, stopped down to F/11 or so, ISO 200, exposure times 6-10 seconds, I was playing around with my cable release, I didn't have one of those on my 20D.

Thoughts?

Regards,

Larry

I am also still trying things out with my R-D1 which I picked up last Friday. I have been primarily a colour shooter, but I really like the 1600 monochrome option. This is a shot from dusk last night:

Hi- the images are very nice evening shots. One thing I didn't get was there a tripod used?
Also Sevres(?) - the BW images remind me of TriX.

Both sets of images have interesting qualities of light.

I just can't afford the rd1 yet. Is it true that it is a Bessa with a ccd?

Yes, a tripod was used. I shot these from my balcony, in case people are wondering how I got this angle with a 35mm lens. By the way, it was very cold and I didn't spend a lot of time trying to get a perfect shot.

I'm also starting to fall in love with the monochrome shots that come out of this camera. I think they have a wonderful feel to them, very film-like, with lots of tonality and depth. My other gallery has some black and white shots in it.

Yes and no, mostly no. The R-D1's shape is shared with the Bessa cameras. But the dimensions aren't the same...the R-D1 is larger. The materials aren't the same either...the R-D1 is sturdier. The viewfinder is the same as the Bessa R3A's, though the rangefinder is a bit different. The shutter cocking lever is probably the same. Everything else is different.

Mine was a handheld, monochrome jpeg, shot at 1600. Exposure adustment - 2/3 stop. I like the TriX comparison, but remember at 1600, there is 2 stops more flexibility in terms of depth of field and/or shutter speed.

Lens was C/V 35mm Pancake II.

I have only been using the camera since Saturday, and am trying to familiarize myself with it before I go to Havana and then El Salvador at the end of the month, where it should have a real workout.
