I never got comfortable scanning XP2 due to contrast issues. Others have had good luck with it, I have had a better time with Kodak c41 stuff. The Panasonic sure can make some nice photos eh.

Ash ... a mate of mine was over for dinner the other night with his wife Bren who is very interested in my cameras ... is keen to take photographs and loves black and white! Ash got completely absorbed in a little book of Bresson's work ... much red wine was consumed and lots of Leicas got fondled! :D

(1)Lit with a single, but multi-tube flourescent fixture. Not with an RF though, Canon 300D, with an adapted M42 50mm Takumar at f/1.4. Shadows 'tamed' with a large foil reflector on the right side of the subject.

(2)Window light alone, Zenit 122B, with 85mm Helios-40 lens at f/1.5, on ISO 100 BW film developed in paRodinal. Scanned directly from the negative:

Oops. Joe's reminder was for me. My bad. I am logged in automatically and therefore constantly with my various computers, and the "New Posts" features sometimes loses some posts.

http://photos.kaiyen.com/coppermine/albums/People/normal_DSC_0662bwsepia.jpg

This is NOT an RF. It's a DSLR. If people object, I won't post anymore. But this was absolutely inspired by Joe's project and my desire to get my one-light, light-weight, ultra-portable rig set up and in use. And part of that rig is no meter, using my camera as a polaroid, basically.

Nikon D50, wireless/remote SB28 into umbrella, silver reflector. Very small bathroom.

OK, no RF here. This is a Nikon FE with a CV 75/2.5 lens on XP2. The only time I like XP2 is when I WANT contrast. Otherwise it is to contrasty ;-)

A pic I normally wouldn't post because it's digital AND slr AND artificial lighting...

1 4000 watt strobe. Yikes. I burned my friend's face and retinas with it on that day. I'd crop this up to just below her left elbow...

I have one other...

1 100 watt (I think) tungsten bulb in an industial lamp. Pretty cheapy. Like $15. I put it behind a sheet to diffuse the light.

OK, I know this sort of stretches the "one light portait" topic of this thread ;)

Below is a picture of a poster showing Pamela Anderson, where somebody sprayed "sexist crap" across it. The light in the picture is from a car passing by...
This is part of a series of "public pornography" that I am doing at the moment.

Joe - although it depends on that one light (could be a large soft source), but generally one-light means very directional illumination and therefore contrast is difficult to "tame" unless you do digital tricks or use very low contrast film/lens/etc.
