Good point! I guess whoever finishes the roll puts in a new one and passes it on. Of course - what to do with the used film? I would develop, scan and post, but not everyone has a scanner, right?

Just to make it more exciting, i stick in a picture about a tentative planning, the european tour only, so far. The mapping software was nice enough to calculate the shortest route, that being 7168 km. :D

The general idea what I thought of, is, Europe(out via London) -> East (Japan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand) -> Americas (Columbia, US, Canada circle) -> Europe(in via Amsterdam) - but it's still flexible...

There are clusters where it makes no sense to use mail - like, three in London, two in the swiss Basel region, two in Melbourne and quite some in North-America.

But don't let this discourage you to start a similar project!

Heath, having just completed the book project I will offer the same advise I gave to Pherdinand. Grab the ball and run with it. I don't see why there shouldn't be a couple cameras floating around, and there already is a gallery here for images to be posted. I would say to collect names and addresses for a little while to capture enough to make it a worthy journey, then get a camera in the mail.

Hi all,

Just joined the forum today and spotted this wonderfull idea.

May I ask why new people can't be added to the current list of participants?

Isn't the idea to get the camera to travel?

Jon.

RML
05-14-2005, 13:35
Jon, the point is that there are already some 60+ participants, the route has already been laid out and the camera is already on its way. With the number of participants we now have it'll be at least a year before RFF member Pherdinand will get his camera back. I was lucky to be the first to shoot the camera but people like Backalley Joe will have to wait many, many months.

But nothing is restricting you to set up a pass-the-camera project by yourself! I think you'll have half a ton of participants in no time. :)

Pherdinand
05-15-2005, 04:19
Jon & the others, You also can get on this list of course, but only after the current list is finished, and so far it goes with a speed of less than one person per week. Considering we have about 55 more photographers to go, and the overseas travel has not yet begun, it would mean a year of waiting for you guys. If you'll still be hangin' around in june 2006, of course you can join in! :)
