I've put something up on my blog (http://www.glasswings.org/words/?p=105) for rules and such. I've decided to not keep this an RFF only project, even though I've completely lost the APUGers, so I figured the best way to share rules was to put them somewhere off forum. Anyone who wants to participate is welcome and the more the merrier.

5 shots a week is a lot...but I know I can do it. :)

Also, please post a comment on the blog in that entry if you're participating so that I can get an idea of how many people are actually going to do this thing. I may try and come up with another challenge for April if I get enough participation. :)

And for those who don't want to click the link for an explanation:

Calling all photographers! I pose a challenge.

5 photos per week starting on Wednesday the 1st and first posting on Wednesday the 8th.

Just a little stimulation to get people out and taking photos.

This will be easier for the digital users among us, but I have faith in the film users. This can be done.

Rules? Just a few.

Photos must be taken in March. Photos must be posted on Wednesdays. 5 photos per Wednesday only, please. Iíll be putting up a blog in the next week where people can register and post their photos. You can also post them on your own blog. There is no set theme, no set subjects, nothing is barred. This is meant to be fun.

Questions and comments can be posted in the comments of the blog entry and I can answer them there. I can also edit this message to add anything that you suggest.

Please post a comment if youíre in. I want to know who Iím going to have doing this. The blog thing may not happen, but a page after the fact here or on pleasewipeyourfeet.com where all the photos are displayed could if everyone is okay with that.

Are self-portraits involved? I think that would be fun.

On my part they most likely will be. It's the project I've set aside for myself in March. I'll leave nudes out of this challenge, though. :)

I should have everyone who is game post a comment so that I know who is participating. Hm. I'll edit.

Can I still buy stuff in this challenge?

Stephanie Brim
02-28-2006, 10:57
Yes, you can still buy stuff. In fact, I encourage you to do whatever you want so that you take photos. :p

02-28-2006, 10:58
5 photos per week? I guess we know who has a film scanner now! :)

Stephanie Brim

Yup! How do you think I posted all those crappy point and shoot shots? :p

Finally got one and I'm happy now...it's actually feasible for me to do five shots a week. I'll be shooting tons of film this month. The contest is still going on here, you know. ;)

Bump. Anyone? I'm really wanting to get as many people as possible. :)

02-28-2006, 18:12
Sounds like fun to me, im in

Yay! Seriously...the more people who do this the better it will be. The more images there are at the end of it, the better things could become. And who knows...maybe it'll start something.

I managed to do a photo-a-day for a year project I set myself last year, so five a week shouldn't be too bad. Count me in.
Do we post the five shots in our gallery as we do them or drop them in a forum message each week?

Stephanie Brim

I may set up a separate blog to post them in...everyone who decides to do this can register to post in on the blog. At the end I'll put them all in some sort of an archive. I haven't really worked that out yet...but it'll be worked out before next Wednesday.

I have plenty of space so I figure I may as well go ahead and use it. I'll figure out the best thing. Suggestions are appreciated, though.

ISuggestions are appreciated
I think we should keep it as part of RFF (with moderator approval of course). Possibly set up a thread where participants could post their week's contribution in a message. If you advertise on your blog, or elsewhere, it might even generate a few new members.

Thing is that I kind of explained that above...

It isn't an RFF only project. Others are participating, including a few people in the Freenode #photogeeks chatroom. Keeping it on RFF would kind of outcast those guys. We could have a post for the images, but there should be another place to post them that we would all be able to use.

Opps ... I'll have to reread everything when my brain is less mushy. :bang:

That happens to me, too...sometimes.

I can't believe there isn't more interest in this.

02-28-2006, 21:03
i will give it a shot Stephanie. My scanner sucks but I can get 12 shot rolls of HP5+ at National Camera Exchange and cheap processing to follow somewhere that I trust. Anyone interested in a used HP S20? Can have it for cost of shipping and $25 US.

Heh...I actually need a flatbed for medium format scanning. Wonder how it would do with my 6x6 stuff.

03-01-2006, 05:45
Hi there,
I'd like to give it a try, but I may fall flat on my face in the first week.
I've got to get the sensia out of my GS and load some XP2 so I can have it processed in a hurry.
Accept my appologies in advance, in case you don't hear from me on Wednsday.

It's okay...really, you can post one photo each Wednesday, or five photos on the Wednesday you have them. It's just a challenge. It isn't meant to fluster people.

Anyone else who is in? Comment on the blog. Good luck, everyone!

03-01-2006, 11:15
Well, the S20 is an older scanner, but it apparently does handle medium format (and everything up to 5x7, actually). that was a quick search on google.

So you don't have to use a flatbed for medium format. And scanning medium format with anything is better than not scanning it at all.

I agree. Lots of people want to see shots from the Meopta...including me. :p

03-01-2006, 11:48
I'm in.
I've been shooting a lot ( for me ) lately & this might help me keep it up.

I shot some today, but not a lot. I'm going this weekend to shoot some more. Surprisingly I shot with the Meopta today and not a rangefinder...hope I can find a place to get those negative scanned.

Is a photo from March 2005 or 2004 acceptable?

Just joking........hm........I am still thinking and will decide later on tonight if I am in or not.

well..........I AM IN !

I will try my best and see what comes out.

Now.........I think.....I need to get a M6 and a 35/2.0 for this project ! haha.....NOT.

03-01-2006, 23:52
OK, lets give it a go!

03-02-2006, 05:25
hm....five images a week...sounds like a big challenge to me...

anyway, it's a nice idea to get my fat ass out of the sofa and go to shoot some pictures. I will try my best to see what might come up. Can't promise they will be good, perhaps just some images for us to laugh about.

Yeah..I AM IN!!!

5 shots a week is a lot...but I know I can do it. :)

I can't . Not five each week, all good enuff to get posted here.
A friend of me did a PAW project in 2002, he shot 220 rolls in 12 months, developed and scanned them and spent more time with picking the 3 to 5 right ones for the album than he spent for shooting. And that is the effort I would expect too.

Can't wait to see who will deliver which sorta contributions and how long this project will run, that's quite a task, good luck to all ! :)
