View Full Version : Help me id my grandfather's Leica

I've found this picture of my grandfather with a Leica camera he acquired around 1961, he says it was already used, and troublesome. I'm really interested in finding out the Model, and maybe someday buy a similar one, just for the sake of his memory. If anyone could help me discover which one is this, it would be much appreciated https://c2.staticflickr.com/4/3674/33581343266_f83bebba04_o.jpg

Sure does look like a IIIC/F with a Summitar attached.

Do you know what happened to the camera? If it's still in the family somewhere, the serial number (https://www.cameraquest.com/ltmnum.htm) will tell you exactly what model and year. Agree it looks like a IIIc or IIIf (I own both), but there are more experienced eyes than mine on this forum.

I think too that it is a post-war IIIc or IIIf. The lens is a 50mm f/2 Summitar.

Looks like a iiic to me. The shutter speed dial on top looks like the narrower iiic dial instead of the short/squat iiif dial with the flash sync dial around it.

Sorry he found it troublesome, those are nice cameras.
