Perhaps my favourite image from a 7-8 yr. stage of my life, now just ended, that had me on the water every day shooting, shooting, shooting.... this topmost section of a 20yr-old male orca's (salmon eating, 'resident' orca) dorsal fin is only the top 3 inches of a 4+ foot high fin. Perhaps its because I know its just the 'tip of the iceberg' that adds a great deal of the allure to me. The water droplets were actually what initially drew me to spend 30 days straight, in mid july when sun is highest, shooting differnt treatments of dorsals cutting through the water. They fall like jewels from a black velvet pouch and the smallest droplets refract like very easily. giving amazing effects of rainbows where you wouldn't expect to see them.
