   Summarex 85/1.5 Lens

Asking Price Shipping Amount Condition
$1,125.00 None Good
Description:

Leitz Summarex 8.5cm f/1.5

Serial: 940880 (1951)

Includes: Lens, original hood, Leica rear cap

Condition: Excellent (according to KEH scale)

The Good:

- smooth, well damped focus ring

- smooth, clicky aperture ring

- front and rear elements are near pristine, no scratches, marks, etc

- no internal haze, mold, fungus, etc.  a few dust particles that have no effect on images i've taken.

- exterior is in excellent condition.  a few bright marks here and there, but nothing obvious or ugly.

Issues:

- a slight bit of separation between the front lens group, has had ZERO effect on images taken with the lens

- an original 28/90 Leica LTM to M adapter has been secured (glued?) on the mount.  works perfectly with all my M-mount bodies.  i prefer not to attempt removing it for fear of damaging it.  i don't see many people using this with an LTM body, quite honestly.

Resolved, adapter removed.  Original screw mount in excellent condition.

Please feel free to message me with any questions.  I will be happy to provide detailed pictures, and sample photos to those interested.

I have seller feedback on ebay and fredmiranda.

Note: I've attached a few sample images shot on the ricoh gxr a12 module.  these are straight out of camera JPEG files, no adjustments.  sharpening is actually turned off in camera as well.  images were shot at f/2.8 to f/5.6.  there are plenty of bokeh pictures on flickr, just search "summarex bokeh".

Rare lens, these go for $1500 on ebay in lesser condition.

Hi, I'd be likely to want to use the Summarex on a screw mount camera so I'm interested to know why you think that the M-LTM adaptor might have been glued on please?  Is it just very hard to unscrew or is there actually evidence of an adhesive?

Pete.

The gentleman that owned this lens prior to me used it exclusivly with an M4.  He's no longer living, so there's no way to know for sure.

I suspect he may have had someone semi-permanently attach it to the lens with a thin and light adhesive.  That being said,  there are no signs of adhesive.  It may just be very tight on the screw mount.

If I find a tool that will allow me to remove it without possible damage to the lens or adapter, I will give it a try.  Suggestions are welcome.

it turns out it the adapter was just very tightly mounted.  i've removed it, the original screw mount looks excellent.  works perfectly on my screw mount bodies.
