Description:

Here are a couple of interesting items. First a scarce Schneider Xenar 180mm f4.5 lens in LTM. I have just serviced the lens, and all the glass is clean and clear and free of scratches and fungus. This lens is rangefinder coupled, and quite easy to use on your LTM camera with any of the 180/200mm finders out there. I see 11 such finders on ebay right now, and not all of them are overpriced. (I have a Sankyo one I picked up a couple years ago for $20 or so, but which I need to keep, sorry) Focusing is a bit heavy, but I didn't do anything about that as I don't want to have the focus shift when the aperture ring is turned. Aperture is fairly light, but could be smoother.

This lens is uncoated and quite sharp, but contrast is low, producing dreamy results something like an old Summar. Cosmetically it is pretty good, but not a shelf queen. A scarce and interesting lens.

Price $300.

Second, a nice Leotax Merit, in my humble and rather biased opinion the nicest looking of the Japanese Leica clones. It is proportioned like a IIIf, but with every dimension about 10% larger. It has an extremely nice finder, much larger than the contemporary Leicas, with non-parallax-corrected 50mm frame lines. The excellent lever wind is a great feature and speeds up the camera a great deal. Build quality is very good, on a par with late 50's canons.

Everything works properly, and cosmetically it is very good with the exception of some chrome flaking near the shutter button and fold-out rewind crank.

Price $150 body only, or $200 including the excellent condition Jupiter 8, which is smooth operating, with no glass issues at all. The Leotax lens cap comes with the lens.

I'm sure you will like these items, but if you experience any problems within two weeks, please send it back for a full refund, less any shipping charges.

I will offer free shipping in the continental USA via USPS Priority mail if you use the Buy it now feature; otherwise shipping will be charged at cost.

Cheers,

Dez
