   SOLD: Sonnars Amedeo $250!

Description:

***SALE PENDING***

Two Sonnars, One Price! (Camera not included)

Nothing wrong with these lenses; I am just at a point of repair and calibration fatigue (imagine two different M bodies and a stable of superspeed lenses... the more of these things you have, the closer you get to physical and financial impossibility in getting it all to work together perfectly). For Sonnar-type lenses, I think I can live with just an MS-Sonnetar and a ZM C-Sonnar.

This is a package for $250 plus $10 shipping (US) or on quote (abroad). Paypal fees are included.

First "I will buy" takes (if you are outside the U.S., you need to accept the shipping cost before it will be a "buy." As per RFF convention, asking questions does not hold an item.

No substitutions, deletions, lowball offers, or trades (unless you want to trade for a Horseman SW612 back).

  1. Carl Zeiss prewar Sonnar 5cm f/1.5
  2. Carl Zeiss prewar Sonnar 5cm f/2 collapsible
  3. Amedeo dedicated 50mm adapter for Leica M, rangefinder coupled, focuses in same direction as Leica, focuses to 0.7m, with case.
  4. If you conclude this deal and pay today (Sunday, April 9), two 40.5mm B W 010 MRC F-Pro filters.

Glass: both lenses are devoid of haze, fungus (uncoated glass is immune anyway...), or scratches. There are a couple of tiny Zeiss bubbles, but that is normal. Probably the best glass I have ever seen on these. The 1.5 has some dust specks in it and is probably due for a cleaning but is usable as it is.

Barrels: in nice shape, with filter rings intact. The 1.5 is radiant. The 2 has the usual light marks on the collapsing part of the barrel. Beauty and filter rings are perfect.

Apertures: A touch of oil. Harmless. Get used to it. Even when you clean these, it eventually comes back.

Notes:

1. These are most easily used on mirrorless cameras because you can focus through the lens. Get a $10 Leica M to your camera adapter, and you are good to go.

2. On an M camera, the Amedeo adapter tracks focus properly but it runs a hair past infinity (both the image plane and the RF spot) when the lens is on the physical stop. Harmless, but if you don't understand this, please do not buy it.

3. Because digital Ms can be touchy with f/1.5 lenses, I have introduced a modification to the 1.5 (reversible - the Sweeney method) that allows you to rotate the rear group to perfectly match focus with your RF wide open.

4. The f/2 does collapse on the M240; the barrel extends only a tiny bit beyond the lugs of the M mount on the adapter when in the rearward position.

However, you need to be really careful about barrel position because it barely clears the RF roller when it is collapsing. In other words, turn the barrel only enough rotationally to allow it to collapse. Otherwise the locking lugs on the barrel may hit your RF roller. I have not managed to do this (and maybe I'm imagining this risk), but you might. You are responsible for assessing the safety of a collapsible lens with your camera.

If for some reason the pending sale falls through, I'll take it!

Regrettably I was not the first buyer so someone else will make good use of these lenses.

Dante

Nice equipment sale.....

Glad to see you are still loyal to your MS Sonnetar.

The "Sweeney method" sounds an awful lot like a variation of Miyazaki coma adjustment.
