Are you sure this is a 262?  Seems to me the 262 has no LCD screen, but this one appears to have one.

The MD-262 is the one without the back LCD. This is, indeed, an M, Type 262.

You can blame Leica for their very confusing naming scheme.


M-D (Type 262) is without screen, brass top/bottom.


M (Type 262) is with screen, but no live view, EVF port, aluminum top.bottom.


It's beyond me they used the "type" numbering.


Glad that they finally realized that type thing was nonesense and got rid of it.
