Description:

THIS IS AN AUCTION SALE.

BIDDING IS REQUIRED, STARTING PRICE LISTED IS $700.00 U.S.

Leica M3, RARE serial no. 1025659, a 1961 production date, single-stroke, 35mm rangefinder camera body only in 9.8 condition mechanically and cosmetically.  Has been completely overhauled and CLA'd and is near perfect.

The camera serial number of this camera is over the 1,000,000th made which makes it a highly desired and collectible by Leica camera enthusiasts.  The factory made the best cameras in the later years of production of this model and many collectors seek out M3 cameras with serial numbers above 1,000,000.  This camera is one of the collectibles, but is also fully functional and in fantastic condition.

This sale is for the camera body only and it comes with a "bakelite" plastic "Leica" lens opening cap,  with one white plastic cap over each of the two X-M flash synch sockets.

The camera mechanical functions all work perfectly.  The viewfinder is clean and clear.  Shutter fires at all speeds.  Shutter curtain is clean and wrinkle free.  Self Timer, Preview, and Reversing Levers work fine.  Pressure plate is clean.  Comes with film takeup spool inside the camera.

This Camera has just been completely overhauled and CLA’d (Overhauled, Cleaned, Lubricated, and Adjusted to excellent working order) by DAG Camera in July, 2009.    Camera has been stored in a sealed protective cover and remains in pristine condition.

Cosmetically the body has very, very minor signs of use.  A minor shiny scuff or bright mark on the top and bottom plates, minor strap lug wear, a couple of small paint wear marks on the outer edge of the hinged black film door, no dents or dings in the body, or elsewhere.

The Vulcanite body covering has been replaced by DAG Camera, with a fine soft black leather that replicates the original finish and provides a complete up to date outer skin on the body and back.  Looks fantastic and brand new.

Keywords: Leica M3 - NICE ONE.

This auction appears to have violated RFF rules. I have no interest in the item, or in bidding/buying from a nonmember with zero feedback, but the original ad is clearly dated 11/29, and someone who submitted a bid by the original deadline of 12/29 has been ignored. Mods/bartender, is anyone overseeing this auction?

I've no idea how the seller managed to extend the auction for another 30 days. I didn't think that was possible. There's no classifieds rule against extending an auction, but its not really fair to bidders. Hmmm let's see what the Head Bartender says. I just posted about it in the Moderators Forum.
