New (to me) Polaroid Land Camera

Thanks John. By googling around I also found your older thread on photo.net, which further clarifies the issue. Great pictures in that thread, and I envy you your 100 packs of 667 film!

I've a BIG box of old Polaroid pack cameras in the basement. None are 1xx series. The battery compartment is large enough to put in either a 2 or 3 AAA holder I converted several of them. However, I was lucky in that Polaroid had a special run for both made some years ago and I picked up a dozen of each for the cameras. I went through them all over the years as I used the cameras to teach photography and loaned them to students.

The plastic lenses while not up to the good corning in the glass lens of the Polaroids were still very good. To get anything near the nest quality from these cameras though forget hand holding. Use a tripod and you'll soon realize these were serious cameras and the film first rate.

Look for the Adams book on the Polaroid camera. He worked for them and published imHO a must read for everyone interested in Polaroid. I went from a pretty good shooter to easily on par with any other camera I use. Since you can get Fuji, look for a 180 or 195 as these are the totl totally manual cameras with excelelnt glass. I have and used both and the big difference was the Zeiss viewfinder but it was not as big a deal as I first thought both produced nearly identical results. Here in Canada I've not been able to find Fuji so for now they all are sitting gathering dust.
