Big Closeout Sale on Voigtlander 50's & 85 for Nikon Rangefinder

Once upon a time Cosina Voigtlander produced a lineup of lenses for classic Nikon rangefinders, the SC 21/4, 25/4, 28/3.5, 35/2.5, 50/1.5, 50/2.5, and 85/3.5. ALL were modern multi-coated high contrast lenses. see http://cameraquest.com/nrfVClens.htm

Until today (Jan 22, 2009) the CameraQuest prices for the 50/1.5 were $399, the 50/2.5 $319, and the 85/3.5 $385.

On closeout special the 50/1.5 is now $249. This is the only Aspherical production lens ever produced in Nikon rangefinder mount. It has the same glass as the Voigtlander 50/1.5 in Leica screw mount.

the 50/2.5 $199. It has the same glass as the Voigtlander 50/2.5 in Leica screw mount.

and the 85/3.5 $249. This is the only APO 85 ever produced in Nikon Rangefinder mount.

ALL 3 LENSES FOR $500! This special applies to Nikon Rangefinder mount lenses ONLY, not their Leica mount counterparts.

Free Shipping within the US
add 9.75% sales tax only if you are in Calif
$40 Shipping Express Mail Internationally for 1 or 2 lenses
Free Shipping Internationally if you buy all 3 lenses!

I know. And just when I'd decided to probably sell my S2... this doesn't make that any easier Now I just keep thinking..."well, if I sell it anyway later on, maybe it'll sell faster as a set w/ the 85mm too, and..."
sigh.

The fifty doesn't interest me at all and I've got the Nikkor 85, so no sale.
However, I'd get very excited and spring for the 25 and the 28 if they go on close out.
I'm waiting........

Perhaps you didn't know that Nikon made rangefinders (that's why there's a separate sub-forum for them)?

The Voigtlander SC series lenses for Nikon Rangefindes & Contax Rangefinders were introduced in 2001 and discontinued in 2007. The complete set were the 21/4, 25/4, 28/3.5, 35/2.5, 50/1.5, 50/2.5, 50/3.5, and 85/3.5.

These special prices are only for 3 overstocked lenses: the 50/1.5, 50/2.5, and 85/3.5. The 35/2.5 sold out about a year ago. The other 3 wide angles appear likely to sell out this year. There will be no other super lens discounted deals like this one.

Once this series of lenses are gone, thats it. I think demand will push prices up over time.

IF these lenses are new to you, the wide angles 21, 25, 28, and 35 can be used on the Nikon I, M, S, S2, S3, S4, S3M, S3 2000 and SP 2005 rangefinders, the Voigtlander Bessa R2S as well as the classic Zeiss Contax I, II, III, IIa and IIIa. The 50 and 85's can be used on the above Nikon rangefinders only, not the classic Zeiss Contax unless you use them at or near infinity only.

Thanks
Stephen

I took a stroll with the 85mm today and it's a very nice handling lens. Well built and relatively compact, I look forward to getting back the roll of BW400 I took today.

This really was one heck of a deal, thanks again to Stephen!

When I dropped by yesterday, Fujiya Camera in Nakano (the best place to buy CV gear in Tokyo) were sold out of the "other three wides" (21/4, 25/4, and 28/3.5). Its probably fair to say if they don't have any no one in Tokyo does.

If anyone is thinking of picking any of these up, probably best to grab them while you still can!

Voigtlander SC Lens Production Figures

It turns out Voigtlander SC lenses are a lot more rare than most of us thought. The following are estimates based upon factory supplied info. The figures are not exact, but I believe they are relatively close:

SC 21/4 900
SC 25/4 800
SC 28/3.5 700
SC 35/2.5 700
SC 35/1.2 3 - prototypes
S 50/1.5 700
S 50/2.5 600
S 50/3.5 500
S 85/3.5 600

Bessa R2S Body 900 !

While more SC 21's were made than the 21/4 Nikkor, all of the other SC lenses are considerably rarer than their equivalent Nikkor counterparts.

UPDATED SC page here http://cameraquest.com/nrfVClens.htm

SO...get them while you can!

Stephen

I got a R2S NHS special set and a w-Nikkor 3.5cm f/1.8 (old) last year,
these are my only Nikon RF staff.
Now I intend to buy a fast 50mm lens ...

Is the S Nokton 50mm f/1.5 still in stock ?

I bought 1 set already. The quality is excellent. With such some no. of production, I am thinking seriously to buy one more set, and a 25/4 as well.

Less than the R2S!

There will be a lot of shooters wishing they had bought the R2C after they sell out!

Same here.

I have not had a chance to go out shooting with mine--just got them--but I am very impressed with the fit and finish of the lenses.

This thread has reminded me to get busy and order the CV wides I need before they're gone. I already have the 35 (and love it!) but I just sent in an order for a 25. I can't wait!
