Just got a note that my 2 M39->M-bay. adapters from Merkle Camera are ready for pickup at the post-office - the bad thing: customs wants 16 Euros...
I also won the auction for a bay. 1 yellow filter for my YashicaMat (which I have been using a lot more recently - eventually I will have to look for a brighter screen for that one, too).
And non-photo related, I'm waiting for a huge pack of ancient accordion song-books bought very cheaply - I'm progressing much faster on that instrument than I thought, so I need new practice material...

Did you hear about the accordian player who was driving across the country. He stopped at a cafe. Leaving the accordian in the bacK seat, he carefully locked the car. He was eating lunch when he heard a crash in the parking lot. He ran to his car expecting the worst. Sure enough, the rear window of the car was broken! And there were two accordians in the back seat!

My wife once was state accordian champion. She only smiles faintly when I tell that story.

Kiev4a, that's a funny story but I can tell one that's completely true.

I was stationed at a base (Mactan) in the Southern Philippines during 1967. At times the USO would send entertainers to put on shows for the GI's. I clearly recall the time Brook Benton performed but that was not my story.

On one occassion a young man was scheduled to perform and he was an Accordionist. He strolled to his spot with a smile on his face and began to play to an almost empty club. By the second song the place was half filled and by his third song you couldn't jam another body in the place.... and his smile never changed. He was absolutely fantastic and the crowd didn't leave until he'd been called back for encore after encore. True story about an accordian player who knew how to wow a crowd of young GI's.

Let's see... waiting on a PX19 battery, a couple of Polaroid film packs (I forgot exactly what I ordered... one of the black-and-white types I believe), and a Minolta Hi-Matic 11.

Well, UPS came through with the film and paper order that my girlfriend and I split from B&H, but I'm still waiting on my Canon 7s and 50/1.2 to get back from Essex Camera. Iit's onlyl been two weeks/it's already been two weeks I want to call Essex so bad to find out what's up, and I have to reason with myself that this is still a normal wait time. Curse those recommdations from people who had quick turnarounds! . Besides those, I'm waiting on an Industar-61 from Sockeyed, which could save me in case the Canon 50 doesn't restore. And, the Industar will be my first tinkering project, as I try my hand at relubing the thing. Anyway, patience, patience ...

Wayne,
yeah, there's an abundance of accordion jokes.
Walker,
I'm not that good yet...

I tend to believe that accordions are a bit like rangefinders - undervalued outsiders, a bit quaint and old-fashioned - but you can do lots of excellent things with them...

Joe,
I don't know what brand/type of SLR you've got, but if it's manual focus (ssshhh, this is a secret) one of the world's BEST macro lens is the Kiron 105mm macro lens. For 1/4 the price of say the Nikon 105mm f2.8 micro, you get the same or better sharpness.
I LOVE mine.

Can the Kiron 105 be adapted to fit M42? Naturally I've got Pentax Spotmatics.

Hi guys,

Sorry for giving just a bit of info and then disappearing. I just got back from visiting with my wife's sister who is visiting Canada from England and is leaving tomorrow.

Late this afternoon I checked my email. I receive a digest list from IDCC, a group into used cameras on the internet. Once a month is swap day and I spied a Canon 85mm f2 lens offered for sale for $200US and was the first to respond.
