sony rx100...my impressions
fantastic!
fast af...as quick as my nikon d90 or d200
lots of shooting options and quick to access
wicked sharp lens
great jpegs...really looking forward to shooting raw
small...i wear it like bling around my neck on a short lanyard
ordered the franiec grip for it and handling should be perfect
easy to hand carry with lens wrapped by thumb and index finger
can shoot hip shots with thumb easily
fits into a pocket
seems well built, hefty for the size of it
people at work marveled at how fast it was compared to their p&s

Again Joe you're tempting me. I've been interested in the Sony as the results I've seen so far have impressed me. I have the Fuji X10 and it gives great results. I used it exclusively this last week while on holiday but it's not as pocketable as I'd like. Ive had it eight months and I haven't really taken to it despite its performance. Could be time for a change.

LCD is better than most in bright light, as it has an additional white pixel. Just got mine yesterday and have taken only a few snaps; so far, it's a winner...menu system is much improved over NEX.
These are straight out of the camera except for the crops. 10mm, f/2.8, 1/400 ISO 80

No miracles then? Just got a new lens for the NEX so I don't know why I'm even thinking about this camera.

How does this hold up to the Ricoh GRDIV interms of ergonomics? Lots of menus? or are all the necessary controls in dial/button form?

...thanks for the heads-up on this Joe, I have been seriously thinking about this one. Seems to be the right combination of size & quality of images to fit the "carry every where" camera that I have been looking for. Now, if I'll just carry the thing!
p.s. The color & resolution of that lens is very impressive. Some very nice shots Joe.

You certainly have an eye for composition, Joe. And it helps to have a camera that you feel comfortable with. I'll have to look into this one as an alternative/bridge to what I would like to get.

Now the red, RED berry image is a whole-nother story.

thanks mike.
when i first saw this image i thought it was fuzzy and i thought the little rx had met it's match...but except for choosing the aperture the camera did it all.

I'm glad this camera is a winner. I just bought two! (Matching his and hers). Will be selling my Panasonic G1, GF1, and Sony 5N. It will be just the RX100 and my film cameras now.
