Call me a stickler, but there can only be one. For me (for now): M3 DS. I thought it might get close after I got the X100... but no – I clearly love one more.

All of them because they each perform different functions.

Leica M3DS, but it's in such good shape I'm afraid to take it out, so I bought a relatively inexpensive Contax IIIa, which is not as good as an M3, but a *lot better than a Barnack*... (oooh heresy)..
Then I got bitten by the Zeiss Bug and have a Super Ikonta and a Tenax II. not shot with the Tenax... looking to swap it for a Barnack

Only two:

Tele-Rolleiflex 135/4.0

Rolleiflex 80/2.8F
Seems the Leica's are slowly losing ground to those

I have a favourite in each format.
35mm SLR - F2
35mm RF - M3
6x6 - Rolleiflex
6x7 - Mamiya 7
6x9 - GW690III
4x5 - Shenhao
8x10 - Burke and James
I do have several other formats - including half-fram and 828, but they don;t quite measure up as favourites.
As for vacations - it depends on the mode of transport.
I just got back from Korea & Japan. I was carrying 7 cameras! It was a bit excessive but I bought 2 of them on the trip. I left home with a Bessa L, a Leica IIIf, a Horizon 202, a Rolleiflex, and a Mamiya 7. Also numerous lenses for the Leica & Bessa, and the mamiya. On my travels I bought a Contax T2 in Japan, and an M3 in Korea (which instantly was promoted to my favourites). Incidentally I used every camera except the Bessa L.. In fact once I had that M3 in my hands I lost interest in everything else... even food and sex.
When I travel in Australia however it is often by car - in which case I usually carry at least one large format camera as well as all the others.

My AE-1 Program is now my only camera, and of course it's my favorite. It takes Canon FD and FL lenses, M42 lenses w/ an adapter, and Nikon and Leica R lenses w/ adapters. The Swiss army knife of SLR's.

So far, I am getting the impression that there is really no need to pick just one as "the" favorite. For some, including me, it may not even be possible - and that's okay.

Leica M9. Used to be Leica M3, then M4, then M6, then M7, then M8.
Next to be MM.

I have many cameras that I use both frequently and would never sell, so I guess that makes them my favourites. In no particular order:
Minolta XK, Canon P, Kiev 4, Nikkormat FTn, Konica III, Spotmatic F, Canon QL17. I guess if I had to pick one it would be the Minolta XK.

You should sell this idea to Leica for the M10 advertising campaign!
Jokes apart, I like your very concise summary of your gear walk through the world.
