What do you do with 2 film bodies?

Just curious what you guys with 2 of the same or similar camera use the second for.

Do you use it for a different speed film, different focal length, or maybe one for color and one for black and white?

depends, if walking in an interesting and strange place, i have wide-angel mounted on hyper-focal, don't think just click the shutter, get the big space, then i change to 50 or tele to get the details. film speed depends on the time of the day. bw or color depends what i have in the bag at the moment.

Two lenses on two bodies is nice.
Changing lenses normally coincides with something interesting happening - so its easy to miss the moment. Lifting the second body is quicker.
21/28 on one and 50 on the other.

I always have the intention of using an identical body for having an alternate focal length or possibly different speed film ... but it never seems to happen and I invariably finish up selling them.

Two different focal lengths and as a backup because lord knows that my capacity to take a picture at any given time is a life or death matter.

I almost never take more than one camera and one lens anywhere. I took two cameras when photographing an event for a friend and only ended up using the second one because I felt obligated to use it if I brought it.

Basically I can foresee needing two cameras for some good reason that is as yet unknown to me so I have two.

Same film, different lenses. Twice the exposures, twice the perspectives. And you cut way back on "I Missed The Shot Because There Was No Lens On The Camera At That Particular Moment."

if i wear black shoes, i prefer the black body.
if i wear brown shoes, the chrome body suits better.

Two bodies, two different focal lengths. Other times two different speed\ISO film, other times one with color the other black and white.

It is always nice when you are at the end of a roll and you have another camera ready without having to stop immediately to change the roll of film.

The Nikon F4 will have the 180mm AF lens or the 50mm AF...
The F5 will have the 85mm AF or the 35mm 2.0 (Ai'd lens)
I will also carry a 24mm, 135mm & sometimes the 300mm

I usually work with just one body and have a "back up " m2 or an m3 in my bag without a lens attached.....the back up body is often loaded with a roll of slide film...I've been using the same film now for a long time and when I'm out shooting I usually only bring one type of film ( sometimes a roll of tri-x will be thrown in just in case)......if I see something really nice I'll shoot it with both, slide and print film.......I think I do this because at some point in the future I'll want to sit down and watch a slide show of "memorable" places that I've been to in this world....

Using 2 bodies at the same time with different focal lengths doesn't really work for me....I prefer to switch lenses or just use the lens that I have on my camera and "make it work"

Always having a loaded body is a good reason. very often the same ....Tri-X. Also when I used to shoot slide film, one slide and one black and white was handy.

2 ZI's - one with a ZM 25/2.8 and the other with a ZM 50/2.0 Planar. Always the same 400 speed film in both bodies on any given trip.

I would echo with Michael, I have 2 Ms and 4 lenses but seldom carry 2 bodies at the same time. I decide what to take and normally ONE body and ONE lens for ONE shooting session. My M3 is paired with 50/90 and M6 is with 35

I will bring 2 bodies and bunch of lenses for a long trip, say several days and make decision later on.

So usually it's because I want a different lens on each body. 21/50 or 50/90 most often.

BUT....
The M3 lives in a tan 1/2 case with a brown strap,
The M6TTL in a black 1/2 case with a black strap.

yep, sometimes it makes a difference which one I take if I'm taking one.

Unless I'm wearing black shoes and taking the brown domke out. Then anything goes.

Way back, I used to put slide film in one and B&W film in the other, and I made sure the lenses would work with both (same mount.) NOW, I use one for a portrait tele, and one for a wide angle. I put different length straps on each, so I can carry them both without knocking together, and shoot events that way.

A few months ago, I put some slow, saturated color film on one with a macro lens, and also carried a 3D camera with fast film. Most recently, for a stage based, talent show, I used two digital slurs: one a crop sensor with a short tele (105DC Nikkor) and the other, a full frame with an ultra wide to wide zoom. Didn't miss a thing.
