Taking Pictures at night from the Sky/Stars [MG-1]

Hi, I am totally new to rangefinders and do not know much about the tricks to shoot good pictures. I hope you can help me.
I want to make some pictures with my MG-1 ag night, is that possible?
I think it has a max of 2sec for its shutter.

Normally I use an B/W Ilford Delta 400 film and until now I am very happy with the results but I think I will need a 800 color film for night shooting.

I think guys taking pictures of stars need longer exposures, in tens of seconds. When time is long enough they have to compensate movement of Earth relative to stars.

Basically you would be better with Electro G-series which can make exposure up to 30sec. But if you don't have one, probably considering SLR (preferably with mirror lock-up) isn't worst idea you could run into. At least, you could manually set exposure and have focal length of choice.

Shahin, if you really mean photos of stars or star trails, then you need long exposures. Maybe 25-100 seconds at f/4 on ASA400 film for stars. Maybe. Photos by starlight, away from the city, even longer exposures.

If you mean photos at night, in the city, that's different. Lights in the city should be bright enough to make pictures with a 2 sec exposure. Use a tripod and give it a try.
