3. Not many. We can do Global Express Mail but it is a pretty penny and that is something you will need to discuss with the lab before you send in rolls of film. Give them a call at 512.467.7676 and ask for the Photolab to arrange your shipping for your order.
Alright. Thanks for the reply. I will give them a call when I am in the US. The thing is that finding quality labs in Singapore is a bit of a pain and my negatives are often littered with scratches and whatever and they don't charge cheap either.

That's a shame to hear. We do have several RFF members who we deal with internationally, if you like the results of our lab they could probably set you up with a regular routine for your dev/scans service that you would find beneficial to maintain. Hopefully we'll be able to be your usual full-service lab in the near future!

I just sent in an 15 rolls for development and scanning. I discovered that you have changed your shipping prices to $3/roll. That seems very fair for small orders, but $45 for shipping seems excessive.
I also noticed that for 120 there is no way for me to specify if I want the film cut or uncut.

We are working on getting the shipping method charges changed for the scans this week.

There should be options available for the 120 Color Negatives now.

Oh, and if you have indeed completed the order and been charged that for the shipping, please contact our lab and request a refund for the shipping difference. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Good news everyone! The shipping issues have been addressed as far as we can tell. You should be able to have a very reasonable shipping cost for any size order you place. If anyone encounters any issues with the ordering process, please give us a call at the toll free line: 866.802.8500

Thank you again to all of our loyal customers and to the future ones too!

ON this page:

http://www.precision-camera.com/cate...ion-scans.html

Are the high-res scans for C-41 B&W like Kodak C400N or Ilford XP2 in what category?

And the $3/roll fixed cost is.....not very good, and not the price it used to be.

As a return customer, I am confused.

Thanks.

The shipping costs are no longer fixed, so that should not be an issue.

I am not sure what the question is on the C-41 B&W, but I believe the answer is that you submit it as a Color Negative Scans order.

Just a little tease:

As we have dropped slide film processing from our lab (why we now have the surcharge on that service), we are looking at having our machine converted for B&W development. No promises as of this time, but we may be looking at resuming our B&W develop and scanning service for those wonderfully low base prices again!

As a B&W shooter myself, I am super excited about this possibility and will be keeping all of you updated as things develop!

That would be fantastic! Any idea what developer would be used? Is the system dip and dunk?

I am unsure of the system at this time, if it becomes clear that we will be resuming B&W I will find out for you at that time.

I just posted my first international order through the new ordering system. So far so good. Scrolling through your ultra-high-resolution scanning list I still miss some ordering options:

a) slide film scan only (already framed), which was USD 2,49 standard price

b) negative film scan only (already cut in stripes), which was USD 19,99 for RFF members

c) negative film scan only (complete APS roll), which was USD 11,99 for RFF members

In a few weeks I will have to send an order for the above categories and I don't see how this could be done by your actual ultra-high resolution ordering form. Thank you for advice.

How much is the surcharge? I don't see it mentioned anywhere.

Also, where do we indicate that we are RFF members?

And just to add to the above post: Could you give a step by step as to how one would make an order?

The surcharge is listed on there now, but it is $8 per roll.

Include your RFF or GetDPI name on the order notes.

Steps Simplified:

1. Go to our Ultra High Resolution Scans page on our website.

2. Select your service.

3. Check out just like you would with any product on our site.

4. Indicate in your order notes any special requests you have on processing and developing your order (push/pulls/no adjustments/etc), and this is where you include your RFF or GetDPI name for the free developing service.

5. Complete your order and pay with your preferred method.

6. Print a spare copy of your receipt and include it with your order. (This is really helpful for our lab techs!)

7. Drop in the mail, wait 1-2 weeks and - presto! - instant awesome arrives back in your mailbox!*

*Barring Acts of God. International orders do take additional time.

Those options are still available, just not currently a good way to implement them on the website at this time. Please contact the lab directly through cmenke@precision-camera.com or rhernandez@precision-camera.com to find out more about placing orders with these options, thank you.

I do not seem to be able to find any information regarding the B&W development? What developer(s) do you use?
And how should I rate the film I send in? E.g. Neopan 1600 is more like ISO 800, so if I shot it at 1600 should I ask for a 1-stop push, or is a 1-stop push standard, and customers should only ask for push if shot at e.g. ISO 3200? What about other films etc?
Are the scans JPGs or TIFFs? How come the scans are lower for 120 than 135mm?

Thanks!

Our lab uses Ilford DD Developer on Black and White film.

If it was shot at the ISO rating that the film is supposed to be, i.e., Neopan 1600 shot at 1600, then no push is necessary. If you shot it at 3200, then you would need to request a push. The lab assumes to develop at ISO 1600 with Neopan 1600 even if the film is technically ~ISO 800

High-Res scans are JPGS. We have a lower resolution TIFF service that is not part of this special. You can see the pricing and ordering abilities of that service here on our Film Scanning page.

6x6 4760x4832px

35mm Roll 4181x6305px

With the Noritsu scanner, these are the optimum resolutions for each format that can be achieved. It's due to the technical limitations of the scanner, but you still get a wonderful medium format image out of the scan due to the larger negative. Both look great, but I much prefer my medium format scans over the 35mm.

Tracking orders with the new shopping cart?

I just got back my PCV order (#614) using for the 1st time the new shopping cart. As usual, the development and the scans are of high quality: The push options were also done properly.

The new ordering system has an "Order Status" page, where we could track our order status. Since you received my rolls (from the scanning date I guess around the 20th of June), I had only one order status change to "Awaiting Shipment" on June 26. I was still expecting the status change to something like "Shipped" along with the USPS tracking information, when the postman delivered already the parcel this morning (July 6). Is this the normal order status procedure? I guess your shopping tool allows more status changes during the ordering process.
I even don't know depending on what you you will ever "close" my order, to be listed in the "Completed Orders" page, if it is still in status "awaiting shipment"...

Thank you for some insights.

I have asked the lab to be more attentive to updating order statuses on the website as they process orders. If I do not see any changes I will be hounding them until that improves. Thank you for your attentiveness to this portion of the order process. We need feedback like this to continually improve our services.

As always dct, thank you for being such a valuable customer!

I'm about to send you guys 15 rolls to be processed and scanned. The shipping for basic UPS ground is $42.77. Is that correct? That seems really steep. I'd like to get this out today, so I may just send it anyway and, if the price is not accurate, hopefully it can be corrected after the fact.

UPDATE: It's only fair that I update my previous post and say that Precision Camera acknowledged that the shipping costs were more than they should be and will refund half of what I spent on shipping. I emailed them and they wrote back to me in minutes.
