Hello everyone, I found the filter uv / ir used from a Leica dealer. The filter has arrived yesterday. Inside there are instructions that read: "to use the filter with the LEICA M8 are needed Leica lens with 6-bit coding. make sure that your leica has a firmware version 1.10 or higher in the main menu and select voice recognition goal. It is in the submenu on the variant with uv / ir. now I ask you kindly that it is more convenient to set the camera as my Summicron 35 (matr. 3.60x.xxx) encoded. ps.

The dealer bought this filter on April 1st?

There is no voice recognition. It's not possible to set the camera to know what specific lens is on your M8, though this is possible on an M9.

Easiest is to use no filter and set the camera to no UV/IR and Lens Recognition Off. Then you get some IR contamination in picture colors, sometimes not noticeable, sometimes (especially indoors with tungsten light source) quite annoying.

The UV/IR filter will remove the IR contamination, but at the price of "cyan drift" at edges and corners of the frame. You can remove this cyan yourself with software such as the free CornerFix. Or you can have the lens 6-bit coded, set the camera to Lens Recognition On and UV/IR. Then the camera automatically does its best to take care of natural vignetting and cyan drift.

Just put the filter on the lens and take photos. the cyan drift is only noticeable when using lenses wider than 35 mm. i often use my 28 lens without any correction.
but the uv/ir filter is crucial, especially in artificial light.

I use a 35 summilux without 6-bit-code. UV/IR on and it works well. You need to code only wider lenses. 35-50-75-90 work fine without.
