Filter size for 50mm f2 Summicron?

Hey guys, I just got a 50mm f2 Summiron for the M3 oh goody. I’m not sure what version of Summicron it is. Is it the third? Anyway, I really want to get a UV filter for it but; have no idea what size it calls for, how much one will cost or, where to get one . Any help would be awesome! Sorry in advance for the awful pics. The only digital camera I own is attached to my cellphone

Thanks,
Bennett

E39mm, a Hoya, B+W or Heliopan will do it. Cost between $20 - 60.

That Summicron is called by some references a "Type 2 Rigid Summicron, 6 elements in 5 groups". Some start with the collapsible as the first type, and number them all after that.

Type Three

Mr. Sweeny is correct and by the alternative system that is a "Type Three" Summicron.

51.9mm focal length. Give or take in the case of the non-DR versions. Grinning.
Filters? Easy. Ask around here. Somebody will have something for you. Worst case, there are a number of vendors available. Camera stores even. Or online. Or an online camera store.
Who knew?

Type 3 / Rigid II, great lens. Made in a time when micro-contrast was king, and Fuji Velvia.
