Who makes battery adaptor for Yashica GSN?

I have two of these fine cameras, one came with a battery adaptor to use a modern battery, the other did not.

I would like to purchase another adaptor, and I think one of our RFDR Forum members actually make them.

Can someone help me?

I don't use one in my GSN, though.. I just followed Matt Denton's handy tip and had my Yashica up and running after a quick trip to Rad Shack

i recently bought from ebay a gsn and ordered a battery adaptor from yahsica-guy on 2/28 on his website and paid him by paypal. to date i have not heard anything form yashica-guy about adaptor order. is he still in business? comments/advoce and on my problem appreciated.

Wouldn"t you know that as soon as I complained about yahsica guy not responding to me that my adaptor arrives. it arrived today with battery as advertised in his website . I guess now i know why patience is a virtue .

The one I got from the local Batteries Plus store is white with these markings:
PC164 / TR164A
E164
6.0V
ALKALINE

Also, the + end of the battery is flat, while the negative end has the bump; opposite of any other battery I have seen. So it's easy to put in backwards and think it doesn't work.

WARNING: The Batteries Plus website is entirely USELESS for finding this battery.

I make my own - very simple, and they work just fine. I have around 3-4 of them which I've made myself. The more I make the better they work!!!

All you need is some 5/8" Outside Diameter 1/2" ID diameter and some aluminum foil. I wish I had more time on my hands to make a quick tutorial. Its simple enough to make and the tubing is really cheap; you don't need much.

Here is a way to make a very simple battery adapter that works just fine for me.

Materials: Two rivets, two flat washers, one rivet pin.

Remove the rivit pins from the rivets. Superglue the two rivets into the holes of the 9/16" flat washers. Place the rivit pin into both rivets and superglue in place. Cut off the rivet pins and file down to be flush with the rivets.

That's it! Pittures below. Works much better than stuffing aluminum foil into the battery chamber. Takes approximately 10 minutes to turn one out, and I've been using mine for a few years now. The rivet posts are aluminum and give excellent contact to the battery. I generally place the adapter into the battery chamber first and then the battery on top of the adapter. I place the battery itself into a clear plastic sleeve first to keep it from rattling inside the battery chamber.

I use tissue paper to expand the diameter of the battery and then balls of aluminum foil at both ends. A spring ripped out from a radio shack battery holder completes the circuit to the battery cap.

If you really want to see some neat fireworks, place an unfired .410 shell into the battery chamber and hit the primer with a ballpeen hammer. You may have the first lunar Electro 35 going into space!!!
