Cannot get my 35 ED to activate

I have tried every jury-rig battery permutation offered by you guys. Either I am doing something wrong - which is entirely probable - or the cam has something else wrong with it.
Self-timer still locked in down position. Camera still looking almost new.
Suggestions? Could I send it to one of you guys to try out? I mean, it cost $10 ...

Self timer "locked down" as in "it is cocked"? Common issue with old cameras - the self timer escapement is very vulnerable to age/disuse related failure, and it usually has never been used up to the very day when the seller clumsily wiggled every knob and button on the camera to write his ebay description...

Paul,

As a former Olympus RF collector, if you weren't down too much for the ED, I'd suggest looking for a 35 DC. It has a better lens, and easier to find battery.

Just a thought.

Paul,

Just a thought, but have you cleaned the battery terminals? You could also take the bottom plate off and check for any loose/corroded wires.
