Love it!
What Film? Or digital?
Edit: Strobist? Looks like a nice light-setup in the first 2 pictures.

Digital. I'm not a huge fan of reciprocity failure and color shifts when dealing with 15-30 minute exposures. No strobist or blending, just trying to use available lighting to my advantage.

How long was your exposure on #2?
Great shots all of them. I understand Mars will be close to the Earth on August 27th, I want to get a few shots of that.

Hoax.

Here is what is happening--scroll down:

If Mars is actually going to be at its closest approach this August, which it isn't, you would need to work at focal lengths of around 4000mm or greater to photograph a very small red disk rather than a point-like star. You would also probably want a tracking mount used in astronomy.

Wow - there's a lot of really impressive street shots in this thread! Thank you helenhill, urban alchemist, zeroeseight, tom.w.bn, buzzardkis, menos, semrich and coelacanth for your beautiful night visions.

Munich's most popular kiosk at the bank of the river Isar is open most of the night on summer weekends.
Digital capture; enhanced with a combination of two white balance settings - daylight for sky and sky-lit parts (shadows), tungsten for artificially lit parts of the scene.

Thanks. If I recall correctly it was right around 35 minutes.

From a Summer Solstice gathering.
So so proud of my friend. Final treatment last week:
Tossing small trees and uncut logs into the fire

Fire was about 1/3 final size here and throwing off some heat and light..

I love the time between dusk and dark when the sky gets that deep purple-blue color. I call it "purple hour". My "mid-purple-hour" rule is 4-4-4 (1/4s f/4 and ISO 400), which is the moment the sky meets the brightness of city street lights (sky at 90 degrees away from the sunset). Only problem is, using this 4-4-4 rule on digital the lights are a little bit blown out in the highlights. Slightly earlier, I back off to 1/8s and I do better with the highlights

A recent roll
My hometown takes on an air of mystery at night. Here are a few shots from a recent roll of Fuji Xtra 400, shot with Zeiss G28 and G45 on a Contax G1.
Some Photoshop on a few of these to compensate for underexposure.

Just got some E6 shots back from the lab. Shot with the Hasselblad and Fuji Provia.
