leica digilux1 from 2002. been using it off and on since new.

Ive been using it a lot lately, its still fun to shoot with. shame that its a bit low res and the color is horrid, but its makes for a fine b&w camera.

Had a Sony CD500 since 2003, it just DIED like 1 week ago, greatest little 5MP digital ever made! (w/ Zeiss Vario- Sonnar , had about 80k on shots) with one repair.

RIP

Canon 1Ds since 2003. I like the images from it better than my recently purchased (and sold) Nikon D300s. Can't really explain why.

It's just a little P&S and I bought it used 5 years ago, but my Fuji E550 has a cracking lens and non existent shutter lag. Use it primarily for traveling and fleabay and RFF ads.

The only digital I have is a Kodak 4530 hand me down. I answered 7 years since I think that's about how old it is but I haven't had it all those years.

I have a vintage 2005 Sony P&S that I still use from time to time. Since I bought the DSLR, it doesn't get as much use, but it is one of the cameras in my regular rotation of usable cameras.

The first digital camera I bought was the D70s. I bought it in 2005 and I would still be using it if I hadn't given it to my daughter to use. She is still using it. Like Frank, I upgraded to the D300, but the D70s is so much lighter, its battery seems to last forever and it is much less complicated to use than the D300. The D300, however, is better for underwater photography, which is why I bought it in the first place. It has many more focus points than the D70s and is a much more sophisticated camera in general.

D70s, my first and only digital camera. I'm mostly shooting film these days, using the D70s for sports (ie times when I want to shoot a lot of pictures relative to the number of keepers) and when using strobes (ie when I really value iteration and don't trust myself to get it right)

If I update it, it will probably be solely for improved iso performance. That is really my only major complaint with the camera.

Five years!

I use my D70s bought five years ago. I shoot every few days and larger projects on weekends. It has 29,000 plus actuations.

I have been looking at upgrading but shelved the idea. I would like a larger LCD screen but then remind myself that I shot film for years without instant replay. Sometimes more pixels would be helpful when cropping.

On the other hand, I might just replace my P+S which is a Minolta G400. It has been acting up lately. Seems be a sensor problem.

In 2002 (I think) I bought a Canon G2 that got heavy use. I gave it to my wife who is a frequent user.

Both take great pix. Have made excellent 8x10s from both cameras.

I did sell my first digital, a Kodak 4800, 3.2 megapixels. No manual focus drove me nuts. But it also took excellent pix.

It's hard not get sucked in by ads for the new models. But I keep an eye on my bank account and there are other priorities.

My digital cameras are:
  • a Logitech "ball camera" from 1996, used as a security camera in my office
  • a Coolpix 950 from 1999, for web images and macros
  • a Nikon D100 from 2002, used as a general purpose camera
  • a Nikon D70 converted to IR in 2005, and
  • a Nikon D2x used as a copy stand camera which I got a couple months ago, used.
On the basis of the first two, I said 10+ years.

The oldest one in the house that sees constant use is a Konica-Minolta G530 from 2004..

A 10-year-old Fuji 4700 that I bought new in 2000 with a massive 2.4 MP resolution!

The Fuji was my FIRST camera of any kind, let alone digital! (Never used film, never will - obsolete, dead technology as far as I'm concerned...)

I only use two cameras - the Fuji and a Leica M8. I keep the Fuji because the Leica is rubbish at taking photos of small objects for eBay, and it takes better photos than my higher-resolution phone!

My olde worlde Fuji...

Leica Digilux 2: 7 years and counting

I use a Digilux 2 on a regular basis - it is a very nice camera, and even though it's only 6MP it can still generate nice pictures. My guess is that I'll still use it for another 3 to 5 years.

You can't think of a digital camera as a 'camera' so much as a computer...you have to replace your computer a lot more often for much the same reasons.

(Oh, and a Nikon D2Hs. The files really show its age, I'm sad to say)

Mine is a five-year-old Lumix FX-01, a small point and shoot. I have owned the camera for five years, but I see from DP Review that it came out in 2004.

At the moment, it's my longest continually owned, original owner camera. It's great.

I still use my Panasonic LC1 (Leica Digilux 2). It's 6.1 mp but the files have a very unique look to them. And that summicron lens....
