What I don't like about the Certo Six: It's impossible to close the camera with cocked shutter!

Now I know why a guy can't find a reasonably priced Zenobia anymore...

Welcome, Ian. I hate you. And kuzano, too.

Sometimes it's the most understated cameras that are the most to use, eg Zenobia's, Welta's.

batterytypehah! - kuzano has all the neo-hesper lens ones !!! I only have the regular hesper versions Still takes a very nice photo. They have that tough feel to them like the weltas do.

The lens on the Super Isolette (Solinar) is out there with Hasselblad lenses IMHO.

My Balda has the f2.9 Ennagon lens, its good but not a patch on the Solinar.

The Certo 6 I have has a f2.8 Tessar lens and when I nail the focus it’s good but all too often I miss focus.

I also have a Zeiss Super Ikonta IV with working light meter and apart from the issue with frame spacing this camera is excellent.

Mike - do you attribute missing the focus because the slider is hard to use for fine focus ? I'm assuming you checked it with a ground glass and its the lever ergonomics thats the problem.

When I get some time off of work (in my dreams) I'll love to do a lens test including :
- solinar in various flavors : uncoated/iso III vers/super iso
- Opteron and Jena 2.8 and 3.5 Tessars
- Mamiya RZ Pro 110mm
- Fuji GS645 folder
- iskra
- nikon 50 55 85 all f1.4 on dslr
- Rodenstock Apo-Sironar-N (caltor II-N) 150 5.6 on LF
- and cant forget to add the 4-element zenobia hesper !!

I'll shoot and process the film, just the scanning time is the P.I.T.A. i might just have to send it all to scan cafe.

I atribute the Certo 6’s poor performance to the operator... The slider is hard to use and despite being a big fat lump I have small hands so I find it difficult to get a good steady grip on the camera and still be able to effectively use the focus slider.

I often don’t have long to take a shot and can rush things a bit, when I have the time, the focus is usually bang on though I’ve never checked it with a ground glass.

Both cameras shots look brilliant.
the certo doesnt seem to be having any focus problems there !!

Do you feel the super ikonta can hang with the unit focus lenses.

While all these comparisons are fun, and its good to go for the best, I find it easy to forget I have shot billboards and fashion catalogs on cheap 'E' series nikon 35mm glass and have had more stuff published using a 3.1mp canon G1 than I would care to admit to.

Yes, I’ve not seen any issue with this camera other than the tight film spacing.
