Cleaning inside of Elmarit 90

Just discovered lots of dust on the inside of my Elmarit...

It seems to be either on the backside of the front elements, or on the backside of the front element itself.

I suppose I have to unscrew the ring that holds the front element? I have opened up from the rear, but that seems to be for the rear parts only. Got lots of dust cleaned out anyway.

Does anybody know if the elements are glued on this one? It is a Canada version, the smallest one.

Would I also have to take focus shift into consideration? I used to do these kinds of things years ago, with good results. Once bought a cheap Canon 100 2.8 full of fungus, got it working just fine - things like that. But digital seems to be much more critical when it comes to focus...

I've only taken front element and rear group out, of 90 (Tele) Elmarits. The rear simply unscrews. The front element, you take the beauty ring off with a spanner. There is a washer underneath that you remove carefully. Then, take a towel on a flat surface, and knock the front onto the towel. The front element will fall out - no glue.

When you put it back, make sure it sits snug.

Good luck,

Roland.

Great, just what I thought. This is the canada slim version from early eighties, not the old first version?

Should be the same for both anyway I guess...

Any with 39mm filters. Never had to touch the latest, E46 one.
