AN glass for minolta dimage scan elite 5400

Gents!

I was playing around with with the carrier for mounted slides that came with my minolta dimage scan elite 5400. I never use it, but suddenly it struck me that I could use it with a piece of AN glass of my durst enlarger. It work really nice!
It's really easy to do, and it's a great help if you really want to scan a frame from a very curly film strip.

I'll admit that i've never had to deal with seriously curled film (I tend to "b-wind" any roll that even starts to look curly after processing), so I haven't had these issues scanning with my 5400 (also original version). But it's good to know you came up with an innovative fix for the severely-curled stuff. (Question: are you focusing manually with this setup, or can you still use AF?)

By the way: you've got some amazing photos on your site. Definitely will be following your entries there!

I've been looking for an answer like this for years now. Been holding off on scanning using my 5400 since I was so frustrated with negative curl. And mind you I'm not talking about real curl. It's rather the natural bend the negative has towards the end of a strip. Book flattening doesnt really get this.
I might try your idea out one day. But it really involves getting all my ducks in a row. Since once you start into a scanning workflow it's best just to carry on through and finish everything. So it's a months long project.
