Two-month residency at la malterie (Lille, France) for UK based Artists

Wish that I could apply but perhaps one of you will get lucky?

Call for Applications

Opportunity for an emerging artist through Fabrica’s European partnership project.

La malterie runs a residency program for visual artists and performers engaged in research or the realisation of a project. La malterie is an old industrial building, which is today a thriving artistic centre in Lille. This mutation has been established for more than ten years. The project specialises in artistic experimentation, turning this former malt house into an artistic laboratory where a hundred artists work closely and collaborate together. The 2000 sqm of the building are composed of a concert club, an exhibition space, 5 rehearsal studios for musicians, 26 studios for visual artists, a production space for occasional residencies, and a resource centre for artists.

Eligibility

We are looking for an emerging artist who lives and works in the UK. The artist’s project must deal with the theme of drawing and performance and reflect this in the development of the residency and the final group exhibition.
The residency will be 8 weeks long, starting in September 2010. During the residency, the selected artist will take part in la malterie’s Open Studios on October 15-17, which is an important annual public event and an opportunity to present work in progress. There will be other opportunities for collaborations and meetings with la malterie’s artists and public which can be programmed according to the project, in collaboration with the artist and the team.

The resulting work from the residency will be shown in an off-site group exhibition with former artists in residence. The 5 week exhibition will start in November 2010.

Conditions
The residency program provides:
Studio space of 300 sqm with internet connection.
Accommodation in Lille during the residency.
One return fare from where you live to la malterie.
1500 euro research grant.
Up to 1500 euros for production expenses, to be discussed during the project.
500 euros for exhibition royalties.
Promotion of the project in la malterie’s marketing (monthly programme, website…).

Environment
Proximity to the resource centre for visual artists (legal information, administrative support and access to other opportunities).
Access to shared facilities e.g. screen-printing studio.

Application
The application should include a detailed proposal of the work to be developed during the residency a CV and illustrated material (CD or email with up to 10 jpeg images).
Applications can be submitted by email.
All applications will be assessed by an artistic board.
Applications must be sent before 20 December 2009

For someone like me, this would be great, but I'm tried up like a roasting turkey for a while. Thanks for posting. If things change I just might.
