Digital Leica M8 / M8.2 / M9 / M-E /Mono / M10 aka "M" Discussions about the Leica M8 /M 8.2 / M9 / M9-P/ M-E / M Monochrom / M10 aka "M": Leica digital M mount rangefinder cameras. Naming the new digital M the "Leica M" is VERY unfortunate as it will only confuse newbies with other Leica M cameras of the the past. Happily there is room for confusion with only the past 59 years of Leica M production ... since Leica introduced the Leica M system in 1953. All Hail for the Leica Marketing Department learning Leica M history!

quick m9 question - lens setting

Hi,

I saw a YouTube video that looked like you were able to set the lens type with the menu on the back of the camera? Is this true? Could you, for example, set the camera to 28mm summicron if you were using the 28mm Zeiss and not have to have the lens marked-up with the black and white code dots?

thanks

Hey, fyi, there is a nice video here that answered my question. That's awesome that you don't have to mess with marking-up or milling your non-leica lenses. What a camera the M9 is! It's a real Leica successor. They really pulled it out of a hat.
