Not sure what model(s) he uses, but I know Chris Usher uses Leica from time to time.

I believe Chris uses M6s. With the M9 I hope that Leica makes a serious effort to win back some pros. Even if Leica got just 2% of pros worldwide to use their cameras they would have a good business...

LOL! Marriage is not for everyone... I greatly appreciate your comments and I am humbled to be able to do work that can be appreciated even by those who are not potential clients.

Cheers,

A pro who USED to work with leica...

http://www.elpais.com/articulo/inter...lpepiint_9/Tes

For those who cannot read spanish: French-spanish photographer Cristian Poveda was found shot dead last wednesday at the outskirts of San Salvador. Police spokesmen suspect he was murdered by one of the Maras (juvenile street gangs).
Poveda worked in El Salvador as a war correspondent during the 80's and resided in the country since 2005. Known internationally for a documentary on the Maras, at the time of his death his was working on a project om women inside the street gangs.

If they ever get to read this post, my condolences to all his friends and family.

....but let me hget back to the topic at hand. Check out www.jessemarlow.com

Works with a Leica M6, Hexar, Ricoh GR. Some of the best street work you'll likely see in modern times.

Quite a few of Magnum's guys still use M's for part of their work , Richard Kalvar for one usually carries his M6 and a couple of 35's.
A lot of shooters today work with the tight deadlines and electronic filing - so they have to use digital - but many also carry a M for more "contemplative" and/or private projects.

Indeed Kalvar puts the Amateur/Pro discussion into context.

Well, I meant it. Your pix are great. If I weren't afraid of being labelled as sexist, I would add that you have great legs as well as great pix. )

Indeed the deadlines and FTP/email filing of today makes it an even greater feat to make a committment to film and rangefinders. From my moderate experience in both worlds I can attest!

Kalvar was a bloody good example though!

Agency correspondents have to do photos, video, radio and, of course, print. He did not want an SLR to lug around in 50 degree heat wearing 50 pounds of body armour.

I think you will find that the real pros -- the photojournalists -- are less obsessed with equipment than people on this forum.

As someone else pointed out, it's whatever does the job.
i have often stopped to admire a photo Colin shot on the wall at the CP office.
