eyeglasses wearer with a CL

I'm considering buying a Leica CL and I will use the 40mm lens exclusively. I wear glasses, and I'm just wondering if you can easily see the 40mm framelines with glasses. I bought an old Nikon SLR recently that I sent straight back because i couldn't see full frame with my glasses, and I don't want this to happen with a CL.

Any experience? Thanks so much for advice.....

The obvious answer is to find a CL and look through the viewfinder. I have a CL (two, in fact) that I am selling, but not because of the eyeglass problem (my vision is not what it used to be). When I used the CL regularly, I never had a problem with seeing the full frame. But that may have more to do with the subjects that I like to photograph and would not be true for you.

That why I feel that the only way you can determine this for yourself is to hold a CL in your hands and practice looking through it. You don't even need a lens on it since the 40mm frame is always displayed.

If you're not able to handle a CL without purchasing one, then let me offer my experience. I wear glasses, I had a CL, and I found the viewfinder small and dark—after I tried a Zeiss Ikon. The CL has lots of pluses, though, so try and get your hands on one to decide yourself.

i don't have access to on in person. i was thinking about ordering one and was looking for people's opinions before i ordered one.

sounds like it's doable. i don't shoot much where the situation changes dramatically, so it's probably not an issue. if i shot like winogrand, for example, i'd probably go with a wider lens anyway, and would have to get a different model. but a 40 is just about right for me.

Speaking for myself only -- I wear "coke bottle" lenses (i.e. very thick glasses) and I have a CL. I have no problems seeing the 40 or 50 framelines at all. Now my M6 is another matter...

I suppose it depends somewhat on how far your glasses sit from your eyes, the size of your glasses and your perscription. Personally, I wear glasses with a strong persription and have no problem with seeing the 40mm framelines on my CL. I also have no problem seeing the 35mm framelines on my M7. I cannot see the framelines for 28mm without looking from side to side and up and down.

Wearing glasses : no problem with 40 frame line on the Cl wich matches the speed scale on the top of fhe viewfinder. The Minolta CLE 40 frame line is even more suitable for glasses.

For me, 50mm and a CL is the perfect glasses/camera mix. Occasionally with the 40mm lines I have to remove the glasses to get a better sense of everything but it still works great.
on a side not, I kind of wish the diopter correction piece that Leica claimed existed for the CL was actually available.
