Slightly OT: Cycling Photo Opportunity in San Diego & Atlantic City

The annual Race Across America ("RAAM") bicycle race will begin in San Diego on Sunday, June 19. The RAAM starting line is located across the street from the Holiday Inn by the Bay on North Harbor Drive. The solo racers begin at 7:00 am on June 19 and the team racers begin on Tuedsay, June 21 at 2:00 pm. Lots of racers and crews will be also milling about the Holiday Inn in the days prior to the race. Unless you're a Rockette, you'll never see more shaved legs in one place in your life.

If you're interested in cycling or sports photography, this is a good opportunity to get up close and personal with some world-class athletes. It's possible to get good shots around the starting line and the hotel as the racers & crews get ready.

Local cyclists are also welcome to ride the first 13 miles of RAAM (with the racers & a police escort) in a "parade start" through San Diego.

Go to www.raceacrossamerica.org for more information.

A good opportunity for East Coast photogs occurs roughly 7-10 days later at the RAAM finish line along the boardwalk in Atlantic City, NJ. The RAAM finisher's banquet will be held on the boardwalk on June 29.
