Just installed seals in my Canonet!

I ordered seals from Jgood21967@aol.com for my Canonet GIII.
Mine of course were gooey like they all are. He sent some great
seals precut with cleaning stick for $6! These are the ones to
get. Come with detailed instructions and pictures for installation.
Took me over an hour to clean the old seals out and about
10 minutes to install the new ones. These are way better than
trying to hack something out of foamies!
I need to order several more for my other Canonets!
Oh yeah I was able to adjust my rangefinder in the vertical
axis also, it was a little bit off.

Thanks for posting your experience Rob, I have also a G3QL19 in need of new seals (which one doesn't need?) and may try the replacement as well and if possible clean the viewfinder glass, hope I won't ruin anything

Taffer, if the top is like the GIII it is easy to get to the
rangefinder glass to clean it. There is a protective cover
over the rangefinder, I usually dont remove it and just
clean the inside covers glass and the glass lenses covering
the rangefinder system and the view really gets bright..

Hi Rob,
Glad to see your seal replacement worked well for you. Yes, Jon Goodman is definitely the man to contact (E**y seller "interslice" for interested parties) for seal kits. P.S. If you ever need to remove the protective paper or fiber cover over a rangefinder assembly, be VERY careful to only use something like Pliobond contact cement to re-glue the cover down. Using Crazy glue or one of the other miracle glues will cause frosting of the tiny mirrors which can totally ruin the rangefinder assembly. Trust me I learned the hard way, like many an amateur tinkerer. Hope this helps. Curt in Canada.

I made a new frosted window for a built in exposure meter that way. A piece of clear plastic coated with crazy glue and it was indistinguishable from the original. Just don't do it accidentally.

Well I've just bought one of these kits from Jon Goodman, who btw seems a really nice guy. Thanks also for the tips on the Canonet cleaning !

Edit: only add that Jon is really GREAT, and one of the most helpful people I've dealt with ! Can't really ask for more. Another unconditional vote for him and I'm sure once I receive them another vote will go for his products.

Yes, I too, can vouch for J. Goodman's seal and foam kits. They're great. One kit will do many cameras. Which is good, because the Minolta Hi-Matic 7s II that I just acquired, is in desperate need of a refoaming.....
