Just purchased a 50/1,4 ASPH 'lux...
Dear Lord.
Sweating bullets. Cold bullets!
Just took the plunge and bought a LNIB 50/1,4 Summilux ASPH. At quite a "steal", $2900 CDN.
But to be honest, aside from my M7, the most I've dropped on a single Leica item before was the $1200 on my 90/2.8 Elmarit.
So, I'm asking for a little of what this board seems to do so well.... QUICKLY MAKE ME FEEL BETTER!!

You're an amazing person with a great personality and an even bigger capacity for caring than I thought possible. You deserve that 50 1.4 man. And you read really really really well too. And you are ridiculously good looking.

$2900CDN is a good price for a 50/1.4 ASPH, especially if you bought it in Canada and therefore did not have to pay import duty. Enjoy your new lens! And if, for some reason, you decide that you want to sell it, you should have no problem getting back what you paid for it.

The Red River waters are receding. The mosquitoes are on their way. Feel better?
Which camera shop do you work in?

Marc is right, the cost of ownership will be nothing if you decide to sell it in the future. So stop sweating, you're stinking the place up!

The lens exceeded my expectations - it's not just sharp - it's CLARITY is is clear after a roll or two (pun intended).

Just think, at the height of Global Warming, when the whole world dries up and is burning, and covered in dark ashe; you will be prepared to photograph these events, and in any lighting condition that may exist.

Sounds like me when I was working in a bike shop while in college. My bike at the time was worth more than my car because I stood around all day dreaming about all the fancy parts I could buy!
The only positive thing was (and is for you) being able to sell the toys and make a profit if/when you decide you want something else. I built-up my dream bike, rode it for six months and then sold it for a profit three separate times!
Enjoy it, working retail definitely has its advantages!

As others have stated, it is a fantastic all-round 50mm lens. Here's a recent everyday shot with it:>

Cole, "JJ" is from Winnipeg as well. He's now based in Victoria (yeah, I know, home of the newly wed and the nearly dead). But at least he doesn't have to live through those #*@#ing winters anymore! I'm from Saskatoon, now based in Portland, Oregon. So I know my miserably cold winters. Great lens by the way.

It really is a great lens. As time goes on you'll probably forget how much it cost and only remember the many images you've made with it.
