Fujifilm in Japan

i'm planning a trip to japan this summer and i was taking a peek at the fujifilm site and surprised to see all the different types of films that are not offered in North America. can anybody help explain what these films are?

Superia Venus vs Superia X-Tra vs Superia Premium 400 ?
Superia Venus 800 is this the same as Superia X-Tra 800?
160NC vs 160NS vs 160NH vs 160NL?

and how much does film go for in japan?

I dont know much about their color films, but they tend to "re-name" their locally sold film. The place to get the film is at Yodobashi -Akihabara in Tokyo, Huge selection and very competitively priced. Usually about 30-40% less than even B&H. They also have "deals" on film packs, 3 for 2 etc.
Well worth a visit.

Try the Fuji Natura 1600. I purchased a 3 pack for $12.00 at Bic camera. They are everywhere near major train stations.

My personal feeling on Fuji 400s are:

Pro 400: Low saturation, neutral color, good gray balance, fine grain, otherwise similar to Kodak Portra.

Venus 400: Fuji's answer to Ultracolor 400. Fine grain, high dynamic range. Strong blue. Dark area tend to get blue purple-ish color shift when scanning. Discontinued but is still on sale at every outlet in town.

X-tra 400: Scans better than Venus 400 for Nikon V-ED. Color and dynamic range more or less the same as Venus 400 except for the color-shift. Very good film for scanning.

Premium 400: I haven't tried it out yet for its price. Supposedly Its Fuji's answer to Kodak Ektar.

There is another cheaper variation of 400 called "Tough & Fine" or something like that that is discontinued but still on sale at some shops. That I remember is also a very good film.

You may find this super cheap film called "DNP Centuria." They are OEM of Kodak Gold and works very well for less than half of Fuji's price. Discontinued recently and disappearing.
