| Photogs / Photo Exhibits This is the place to discuss a particular Photographer (work, style, life, whatever), as well as to post Gallery and Museum Photo Exhibitions and your own impressions of them. As we march on in this new digital world, it is often too easy to forget about the visual importance of the photographic print, as well as their financial importance to the photographer. It is also interesting to remember that some guy named Gene Smith shot with lenses that many lens test reading "never had a picture published in their life" amateurs would turn up their their noses at, as being "unacceptable." |

I'm showing in Melbourne Australia.
If anyone is around Fitzroy, I have a few photos up in a gallery/shop called In.Cube.8r which is on Smith St just on the city side of Johnston St.
I have a small space there ongoingly and plan to rotate what's showing fairly regularly (only a few pictures at a time). I'm still getting my stuff set up, but the pictures are there.
In.Cube.8r is a place that shows independent local artists and designers.
Cheers,
rich

All the best Rich. I generally make it to Melbourne once a year to watch the Crows play so I'll make an effort to get out and have a squizz on my next visit. Do you mainly use rangefinders (not that it matters)? Cheers, Alan

Thanks, yeah they're B&W silver gelatin prints. Its not a big space and there aren't many pictures, but I thought it might be a fun thing to do. I don't expect it to be a huge success, but if the sale of the odd picture covers the cost of the space that would be good. I use a Leica M4-2 almost solely.

It depends on how long I can afford it, if prints sell it will be ongoing, but will definitely be there until mid may. There's very little space, so only a handful of photos at the moment but I'm thinking of changing it to all small prints so I can show more. In.Cube8r is open every day but Mondays.
Cheers,
rich

Wow, I like your stuff Rich. Unfortunately i'm in Canberra, so not much of a chance to check out your exhibition
Out of interest, what kind of camera/lens are you shooting with?

Hi, thanks for the kind words Drewus. I use, almost solely, a Leica M4-2 and CV 28/3.5 Skopar, though that may possibly change soon if I can find a good Ricoh GR1 for a reasonable price (Leica is still a bit unwieldy), I also have a CV 35/1.4 that gets used occasionally. The photo you link to was taken with the 25/4 Skopar before I traded it in for the 28.
Haigh, unfortunately the stuff at In.Cube8r isn't up any more, I gave it three months and it wasn't self supporting so I had to pull out. I didn't expect to make a profit but couldn't afoord to do it without it paying for itself. I've been considering other options, but we'll see.
Thanks for the interest,
rich

Rich -like your work. I spent a year in Melbourne in 2005-6 and we came over for the Grand Final last year. I regret that we are not planning on vsiiting any time soon. Good luck with the prints.
