Consumer Kodachrome no longer carried at B&H

Please note that, even though B&H uses the word discontinued, that only means that they will no longer carry it. It does not mean that Kodak has discontinued it.

Well, you sure can't buy it at Wal-mart, so B&H no longer carrying it isn't a very good sign.

This is only another wave on the beach. Alas, most are signifigant; but us film lovers should get used to this feeling if we intend to be around for another 50 or so years.

I never bought it from them anyway, so it's not really a problem for me. Apparently not many bought from them in the first place, so I don't see this as much of a dent. Obviously if they were a major supplier to the world, they would never stop carrying it.

Adorama carries it still, but it's $8.50 a roll.

The B&H website has made mistakes before, Neopan 1600 was 'discontinued' also when it was in fact only out of stock. I'll wait to mourn.

$8.50 a roll isn't bad for slide film. Professional E-6 films cost about that much.

And if they get some more, look for "DISCONTINUED" to disappear
from the description (since there's no word "UNDISCONTINUED").

And another auction where it is already $10.00 roll bid. I loved K-chrome 25, but I'm not sure I would pay $10 a roll, maybe, but sure not $33. Actually a few cents more with shipping. Whew!

It is still available from many sources, I just thought it might be worth noting that it is not in stock at B&H, and I have heard that they do not plan to carry it in the future (although that could be wrong).

I always did like KM and have used the 25,64, and 200. The 25 was the best and like others, am sorry they stopped making it. I used to live next to a Kodak plant in Chicago and used to walk a block to drop it into the dropbox and pick up finished slides in about 2 hrs. This was 45 yrs ago!

The DISC on our site was in part because it was out of stock and in part because we'd received word processing had become scarce. We now know of a processing facility and will continue to carry Kodachrome as long as it's possible to do so.

Cool Misinformation and a Clarification from B&H

A similar thread was labeled "MISINFORMATION" and deleted at APUG.

Monitors? Joe? Anybody?

Thanks Henry! I am glad you got the word from Dwayne's. Better late than never.

As an aside, I found out the other day the travel plans of my K64 photos. I always assumed that my local lab sent to a lab out of town and that lab sent to Dwayne's. I found out there's another step.

My local lab>lab in Toronto>Kodak lab>Dwayne's>Kodak lab>lab in Toronto>My local lab

No wonder it takes me a month to get my photos! I think next time I'm going to send straight to Dwayne's (which is what I have to do once that Kodak lab shuts down, anyway).

On the other hand, a number of people had Kodachrome cross their desk in that month. They can't say "I never see that film any more, nobody seems to use it." But it shouldn't take a month. You might ask about that

Alright, that's settled then.
Now let's all go out and start using Kodachrome.
Maybe then we can save it!
