San Giorgio Janua

Hi,

I have seen a couple of listings for a San Giorgio Junia Leica copy. I can find very little about this camera. It is not referenced in the Leica Copies book, and there is only a minor reference to it in McKeown's. Has anyone here had experience with one? Does it have an ltm mount? How many were made?

this site has a Janua camera.
it is not an LTM camera according to this site.

I am the proud owner of a San Giorgio Janua. Although commonly seen as a 'Leica copy', it is a class in it's own. It has its own mount which is not threaded but muonted with a lock, similar to an M. Build quality is really superior. The Essegi lens seems to be equal in quality to an elmar 50. It also has a build in extinction meter, and a dioptry corrected finder. Speeds go up to 1000. Mine came in superb condition with its ERC. The ones offered for sale on ebay carry really high prices (3000 $ +) but I don't know if they really sell for this.

Thanks for the responses and information. The camera appears, form the photos I have seen, to be both elegant and of very high quality.

Are there other lenses for the camera? Or is there an adapter (like an Orion adpater in reverse) that could be used to mount ltm lenses on the camera?

I saw a short tele once, believe it was a 75. Don't know of an adapter.
