Just trying to get over a respiratory illness in order to feel like working on a video for my last documentary. Then, a trip on-location for sound bites and an interview or two, but that will have to wait until next week sometime.

My wife and I went birding yesterday. The Blue Herons kept their distance, unfortunately, but we had a good time nonetheless. I used my new Minolta 400mm APO f5.6 Rokkor-X and 2X APO Rokkor Converter. Took a Minolta SRT101 loaded with Fuji Presto 400, and a heavy Manfrotto Tripod and Big Manfrotto Ball Head. Did get some very cool 800mm closeups of geese that were resting at a distance on some submerged logs. I am going to like this combo for birding. A good test session wringing out equipment.
Today I am mixing fresh B&W darkroom chemicals. Local supplies for these items are drying up, based on what I found today at the remaining "Superstore" and local shop. Did find what I needed there, but it looks like old stock to me. Luckily Midwest Photo is not far away and sells darkroom supplies, and there is always mail order. Have about twenty exposed B&W rolls to process in the next week or so.

It is pouring rain right now, and the sound of thunder is alarmingly high and loud.
I hope that the weather is better where you live.
What will you be doing this weekend?

Unfortunately, Raid's weather is headed my way -supposedly for the whole weekend.
I hope to get some shooting in between the raindrops.

Our gorgeous, unseasonably warm weather is supposed to hold a little longer so I have hopes of the first yard sales of the season tomorrow morning
jippiejee - Which model? I have a few Konica SLRs (TC, TC-X and FP-1). The TC-X, which is surprisingly good for the Cosina-made mongrel that it really is, being my favorite. I should like to try a T4 some day.

I shot a few frames of Plus-X in my M2 this morning on my usual 45 minute walk around the neighborhood pushing the 3 year old in a jog stroller.
My wife will be gone for a big chunk of tomorrow running a half marathon and must be feeling guilty about leaving me with the 4 kids all day. She told me I can do whatever I want today and she'll keep the kids entertained. It's looking like it will be a darkroom day.

We went to a couple of yard sales in the morning. Took a pass at a complete darkroom outfit, including a Leitz Valoy II, priced at $100. I think it came with a lens but I never checked which. Just not interested in yet another enlarger, let alone one for 35mm only, and while I need a set of trays, I'd rather buy those new.
I also shot a couple of frames over breakfast with my wife at a diner. Had a good view of their drive-through window but decided the odds of me catching a nice moment, versus being considered a weirdo, weren't too good.

i banged away this morning on the x100, mostly close-up stuff. only one frame that i thought barely remotely worth posting in the gallery. then switched to the om-1n and closed out a roll of arista premium 400, courtesy of pggunn, on some minimum distance shots with the zuiko 50/1.8. then switched to the nikon f2 with a roll of 400 superia, also courtesy of ppgunn. made several shots at minimum range with the nikkor 50/2. a neighbor wants me to shoot warrior river wildflowers for a picture book he has in mind. i don't like fooling with the fine focus in macro with the x100, nor being confined to a tripod. either a nikkor macro 50/3.5 and color film, or a used digital body and the 50/35.

Took 3 frames on the Hasselblad of ancient Malmesbury, and a few more on the Canon 5D. I don't know if I'm eclectic or just confused...

The other day I set up my Nikon F5 (w/24mm) on a tripod placed it up on our balcony, set the Interval Timer to shoot 1 frame every 4 minutes and then proceeded to mow the backyard...
It shot off 26 frames...I hope to finish the roll today in that camera and then another in my F body and develop both rolls today...
It's expired Tri-X (TX5063) shot @ 100 asa, developed in HC-110 with a Restrainer added to reduce film base fogging...the last roll I developed looked pretty good...although I haven't printed from it yet...
NASCAR is running in Fontana, CA this weekend, the track is about 10 miles away and sometimes the Fly-By jets come very close to our house in setting up for their pass...kinda cool to watch...
