So far members of this forum have sent me serial numbers for a total of 55 R-D1 and R-d1s cameras. I have 35 R-D1 cameras registered with serial numbers ranging from 000419 to 005071. I have 20 R-D1s cameras registered ranging from 100383 to 103314. In all there were supposed to be 10,000 cameras made and serial numbers so far indicate a range of 4,652 R-D1 and 2,931 R-D1s cameras - a total of 9,304. The last number on a R-D1s registered of 103314 was purchased new in 2008. I think the idea of 10,000 cameras being made is possible but I am suprised that the lowest serial number is 419. Still trying to figure out where the serial numbers begin - at 1, 100, 200, 300, 400? Looks like it started at 1?
Keep those numbers coming please! And thank you so much to those of you who have already helped with this project!

Hey y'all...4692, refurb, with tilted framelines (anybody had that fixed ever?)...no other problems, ˜8000 clicks (case anyone is doing some batch analysis). Carry it every day, super cool.

I know, that's where it should be. So why is mine without number?

No Number?

Your's should have serial number on the hot shoe. Odd?
Has the shoe been replaced? Sometimes the number is hard to see. I am wondering what is going on with this camera. Does anyone have any idea? Can we possibly see a photo of the hotshoe?

Here it is. I don't know about the history of this camera, except it has just been serviced by Steve's. Maybe Robin knows more?

Can't there be a resizing feature added to this attachment routine? drives me nuts!

Thank you

Thank you - your R-D1 does not have a number. Hmmmmm... I think someone probably replaced the hotshoe. I guess I record your camera into the registery as Mr. No Number.

Thanks,

Jim Headley

you might check your paperwork from Steve's. they usually put a serial number (identifier) so if it's anywhere else on the body, perhaps he found it....
